New Everton Stadium

Minority.

Regardless of what the gateway to the city is, Docks stadium is the way forward.

Agreed !

But just to expand on the gateway debate slightly and given our slant to knowing history - I would hazard a guess that the river has been there significantly longer than the M62.

Hopefully that puts that one to bed otherwise the train spotters will be claiming its Lime Street and the peasants across the park will be claiming that parts of the Victorian sewer system that runs under the city through which they all crawl on match days is the real gateway.

Living in London the 'positive' things people associate with the City are music, football and the river/maritime heritage (we won't dwell on the negatives!). Nobody has ever said to me anything along the lines of 'I love that exit off the M62'.

The waterfront is the alpha and the omega of potential stadium sites for us. Obviously the Northern docks is not day one the postcard city centre but if it helps catalyse the wider Liverpool Waters and North Liverpool redevelopments then in 20 years we could have the iconic building anchoring and defining the North's version of London's Docklands and Stratford area redevelopments.

The potential dwarfs the best that could ever be accomplished at Stonebridge Cross.

But that could change with the country leaving the EU. Personally I think Liverpool will benefit. But do not go into Brexit on this thread leave it in the Alehouse.

There is more interest in investment into Liverpool now than there has ever been. The only place where the interest and investment has fallen from, is Europe. Liverpool have taken an absolute boat load of money from Europe and done some really great things with it, however, that is decreasing year on year. Liverpool is once again on the right side of the country as a global port. It is perhaps one positive to take out of impending Brexit, when ever it may be..... I agree though, not for this thread

The benefit for Everton being at the docks is that there are a small number of things that Liverpool is renowned for, among others there are the 3 graces, the football clubs and the river Mersey. By getting the riverside location, we are bringing together these 3 major parts, creating a lasting link between OUR club and the other things that are so ingrained into global consciousness.

Have travelled extensively and in my experience Liverpool seems mostly famous for The Beatles.

Not sure if I should be writing this on here. I was told in strictest confidence, so hope I can trust you guys that this goes no further........

The club are delaying announcement until the new owner can cut existing ties & announce his takeover.

He put the first spade in the ground himself yesterday.
