New Everton Stadium

@Tom Hughes

I've been critical before of the height of the roof from the last row of seats. However I noticed that the last row of seats don't connect to the roof and there's a gap.

Could it be possible that Everton may plan to add x no. of rows to the back of the stand and have left that gap and distance so that they don't have to disturb the roof
when doing so?

I haven't looked at the stand cross sections for a while, but from memory I didn't think there was much space between cantilever upright and back row for any additional rows on the sides.... unless that has changed since.

However, both end stand roofs are supported by full width trusses and therefore additional rows could be added (sightline permitting). I think Binman did a mock-up adding a few rows to the south stand. If we ever acquired the (air)space at the North Stand, that would be a relatively straightforward addition too.

Yeah I went to the top row on Sunday and I'm not sure there's much room to add many extra rows. If they ever did want to increase capacity in that way then I think the Roof would need to be raised.

Thanks Tom. The gap is pretty big not just vertically but I'm pretty sure the gap was decent horizontally too.

It's only something I thought of afterwards so when I saw it I wasn't thinking about the possibility of it being left for additional rows. Could be worth a closer look on the next visit.

You normally expect the last row to be attached to the upright but it wasn't. At least in the part I looked at anyway.

The South East corner I noticed that was detached. You can see that from the outside.

The side stands would need a new roof for starters, but the South Stand could have a few more thousand with an angle change of the glass at the back.

Just looking at that again, this must be the original Meis cross section with straight corner wall.... not swept-back, as was constructed. So not sure if the back row (before your extension) is in the position as built.
