New In-House Ticket Re-Sale Platform (no more StubHub!)

My issue is that I don't know how long I will be able to keep getting a season ticket. I've had mine for over 35 years now, but money is much tighter now and my home circumstances have changed. It could well be that this coming season could be my last. So what happens to the credit I build up from selling any I don't get to this season in that case? It just disappears if I don't get a further ticket? There always comes a time when you don't renew, who knows...

I've sold mine or give it to mates or charity most weeks for the last four seasons (apart from covid obviously) as I work and live overseas. I'd fly home for certain matches, but that's been made more difficult (even without covid) at my present location. I don't want to give it up as when I return it's very unlikely that I'll get another for a long time. I do feel slightly guilty about having a ticket that someone else could own, but I try to be responsible with it.
When I used StubHub I normally charged about £25.

You should feel no guilt about keeping it.

It wasn’t that long ago that the club were selling half season tickets every year because there were plenty of seats available. You’ve given the club guaranteed income every season.

Like you I don’t live local anymore and it’s a three hour trip each way to get to the match. I’ve had my seat for nine years, so I won’t be giving it up. The stupid thing about this system is I used to sell my ticket for £20 or less, so another person could get a good seat for cheap. Now they’ll pay full price. That’s a shame in my eyes.

slightly off topic, but with just over 2 weeks until the start of the season southampton fans dont know if they are getting an allocation for the first game!

Ring the box office and they'll put it into your bank account. Not sure if they'll do it by game or have to wait until the end of the season

You can still sell your ticket to someone for £10 or £20 if you want.

This means no one gets ripped off and ensures, as much as possible, Everton fill the ground by selling out the General Sale tickets (which are obviously important to the club).

People who want to go will try and buy as soon as possible and that revenue is now going directly to the club - and then they will offer the re-sale tickets. It makes good commercial sense and is as fair as possible (cutting out the scalpers) and helps EiTC. The credit to the ST account makes it a fair deal.

Unfortunately there will be winners and losers there always are, but at least it's regulated now. I wonder if they can ask you to donate it to EITC to help people there watch the game?

Card is now digital, don't particularly want to pay for a physical card and then have to post it. I don't know anybody near me who supports Everton. It's just not practical for a lot of people who would regularly sell tickets (people outside of Liverpool).

Also, I'm pretty sure the club will strongly discourage (potentially even enforce) the sale of tickets not through this new mechanic, due to the Covid restrictions.

This is better for the club, which is fine, but overall it is an objectively worse deal for the supporters. Tickets are now harder to re-sell and more expensive to purchase.

It's not worse for the supporters at all, just means change for a small number.

Financially a lot who miss games will be better off as they will no longer have to sell tickets on StubHub for 15 quid just to get something for them rather then nothing.
What it is people dont like change, but it's a fair system under current circumstances.

Also one massive positive is it means away fans will find it harder to get tickets in the home ends

The pricing on Stubhub was simple supply and demand. If you want to buy a ticket now you are forced to spend £30+ direct from the club, you’ll end up with fans having to pay basically full whack for obstructed views while resale tickets are held back until there is “low availability”.

It is clearly a worse deal for fans looking to get one off tickets for games as there is no cheap option now.

It could potentially be better for the sellers, but we don’t know as the club haven’t specified what “low availability” is. And speaking as a seller, I’m not sure why we should care more about what’s good for sellers. I’d be happier selling my ticket ten times for £15 than five times for £30 as I would know fans who probably can’t afford to pay full price might get to see a match from time to time.

Yeah but I can remember a few midweak games like Newcastle and WBA and tickets going for 7 or 8 quid, which wasnt fair on season ticket holders who have paid top money for that game.
As with everything there will be winners and losers but on this the positive aspects far outway a few negatives and the club should be praised for doing right for the majority of fans and looking after season ticket holders.

I wouldn’t pay £2.50 to watch us play WBA to be fair lol
