New manager

I always thought Schmidt at Benfica was TFG’s #1… his set up is ideal for our core team too

I’d love Christophe Galiter myself

Xavi, Rudi Garcia, Lucien Favre all without jobs at the moment

Surely Moyes isn’t the only considered particularly as somebody pointed out earlier TFG are familiar with the manager market and surely Thelwell has had his eyes on potential replacements also

He may not be the only name being considered, but we don't have the luxury of doing the full Kenwright and having three weeks of manager interviews. It's vital that we have a manager (or interim manager) in place before the Villa and Spurs games, and include them in discussions on any transfer activity.

I posted 2 facts:

1: Their fans hated him.
2: Their players hated him.

As I said, perhaps educate yourself on the manager's former club a little before going all in on him.

I'd say that should be your goal rather than sniping at me
He may well be unpopular - who cares? - but to claim a manager who has just been in the champions league final is "a dreadful manager", is nonsense.

Would be the perfect appointment in May - he's benefitted from the analytics machine powering Brentford's recruitment team, but I think that both as a person and as a manager he'd relish Everton and the project.
I'd love Thomas Frank in summer too. One of the best managers in the league, but too intelligent to ever leave Brentford for basket case Everton.

You’re right!

I guess the desperate optimist in me hopes somehow they could have been sounding out interest weeks ago knowing this is a decision they would have to make.

To be fair to them too, Ranieri to Roma hitting mainstream media felt like first link to signature in 48 hours. I doubt anything leaked so far has been from them.

The concern is both Bobble and Ornstein are pushing the Moyes narrative so thats pretty solid.
Always had a solid appreciation for what Moyes did for us, was happy to see his time over and I always wished him well in his career.
Some indiscretions around his conduct re: united and dealings. But i try not to hold grudges.

I get the sensibleness behind hiring him. We’ll play better football, we’ll finish mid table. Lovely.

The need for something fresh and exciting is undeniable though, the Ancelotti feeling was incredible. I just want a sign that the ineptitude of the Moshiri/Kenwright era is truly gone.

He's said he wants a year out of the game to recharge
Which in itself is a concern.

Top level managers live, eat and breathe the game, a year out after international football management is either nonsense or shows he’s not that dynamic and passionate about the game.

I don't want him as our manager like, but I would disagree slightly there. I think the England job is quite stressful. Although there a long breaks between games usually, the media scrutiny is ridiculous

Whoever comes in for the summer needs to blow it up and start again. Just too many legacy players from different mangers. Fresh start with younger core with the odd experience player down the spine.

''Moyes 6 month deal, Friedkins wants Ashworth as DOF, Ashworth wants Southgate as he did at United which the Friedkins are happy with...

the above from same source who told me yesterday about 2 hours before the news broke''

I guess I can post this in here too, hope it's wrong I really do.

That's a concern if true Southgate doesn't have the offensive mindset to set up and break down teams, the best players have to do it for him !
