New manager

As an old fart, I've physically seen us play in nine finals at Wembley. I've also seen us win various cups and the league four times. I've also seen Goodison with 70,000+ plus inside it. I know what a huge club we can be.

However, the Premier League years (decades now!) have been desperately poor. The only success we've ever had during the PL years was under Moyes: a top 4 finish, regularly qualifying for Europe, that run to get to the 2009 FA Cup final, wins away at places like Nuremberg etc.

And he did all that on a shoestring budget. He saved us once before and he will save us again.

We had some wonderful nights at Goodison under Moyes, from our first defeat over Man Utd for over a decade in 2005 to the 3-0 win over the RS in 2006. Goodison will be bouncing again on Wednesday night!

I think that is a very optimistic viewpoint but not untrue either.

I think if DM had acted differently when leaving Everton for Utd there might be less resistance now

I also think a lot of Evertonians have unreasonable expectations given where the club has been for the last decade.

Since Moyes left really.

The Dochness Monster...

I agree as a interim I wouldn't be averse to him in the short term. But generally I agree we need someone who can push us forward because we keep doing the same thing and ending up in the same situation, we need a coach who improves players and builds something I think Frank would be ideal but he is not coming mid season, some of the other names like Terzic or Fonseca are a risk.

So I just can't see TFG taking the risk where we are in the table right now the only thing that will matter to them is staying up, so who is the Ranieri equivalent in this situation? Moyes.

I don't want him as our manager like, but I would disagree slightly there. I think the England job is quite stressful. Although there a long breaks between games usually, the media scrutiny is ridiculous
It is and like any job working for your country, it never ends well and the scrutiny is ridiculous. That being said, most driven people can take a week or two off then be climbing the walls to get back to doing what they love.

Most my opinion of course.

Really intrigued to see how he does at another club.
I think he will struggle at a bigger club. His football is pretty awful at times, but it gets results and the pressure at Brentford is obviously a lot less.

There is a reason why a lot of the top jobs have come up and he’s not been approached.

That said, he probs would have been perfect for united now - there fans would hound him out though.
