New manager

I agree and don’t think Potter is all that. Drew a lot of games while at Brighton, so it’s like the results Dyche would expect to get if he pulled off his game plan all the time.
He did but if you watched Brighton that was generally because they missed an unbelievable amount of chances which is what happens when you can't buy the top attacking players. I think he would do a good job here.

Not sure we're buying any top attacking players anytime soon.

I don’t think he got time at Chelsea mind you and they were a bit of circus around the time he was there too. He’d be an improvement on Dyche no doubt.

Is it? I think over a long period it gives a pretty good indication of how many chances a team are creating i.e. how well they are playing
If you consistently underperform you expected goals then it means your attack is poor. The fact the Italian was so quickly able to rectify this suggests Potter is a bad offensive coach.

Potter’s tactics at Chelsea were poor, he would play players out of position, he made bad substitutions and he would play underperforming players while freezing out others who could have helped him stay in a job.

Clueless.

He could get away with it at Brighton but I doubt he’d be so lucky here.

Interesting quote from Swedish journalist, Frida Fagerlund, "Ostersund were very different. They could play 4-3-3, 3-5-2, 4-4-2. Potter would look at a squad, and look at the opponents, and then decide what he would do. He is so flexible, and I would say he changed the way football was played in Sweden."
Not saying Potter is the right or wrong man to be next Everton manager but imagine having a manager that has a plan b and can change things up during a game. Can't remember last when we had a manager that had a plan b going into a game

He did better than Frank there at least. But yh, his Chelsea spell was terrible.

To be fair, wasn't Brighton like on a CL spot when Potter left after 5-6 games?

De Zerbi struggled the 2nd season as well, when they were found out. They finished on pair with Dyche says it a lot.

just look what can happen with a change of manager and a few changes with what's happened with forrest. surely this has to be Dyche's final days

It's why id honestly go for Potter.

Allegri would feel amazing but just know the first sniff of a really massive club and he'd be off like Carlo was.

Potter having being burned and such by the Chelsea experience I don't think would look to jump ship and could be someone who'd be planning for the long term.

We need a complete reset of the type of manager we go for, we almost got it right actually when we went for Silva but the recruitment situation honestly killed him and the job was a move too early pressure wise in those conditions

Potter would be close to the bottom of the list of managers I'd consider.

Did anyone read the piece Mark Douglas did on Everton, Thelwell and what's gone on behind the scenes with us? It's behind a paywall, so not sure what the rules are about posting stuff here, but if you read it, the style we are trying to implement at all our age groups is not very consistent with what Potter brings
