New proposed offside rule

Players should be electronically tagged. A little chip under the pl badge on the Jersey and it's measured automatically from that regardless of the rest of the body.

you'd still have the same problem with the drawing of lines on a pitch and having to choose at which point in time to freeze the frame. If you have to get the lines out, the attacker is level and onside. No way should WBA's goal have been ruled out last night, the game is in danger of killing itself.

Exactly this. If there is no clear daylight between the player then he is onside, if you can see a huge gap even though his foot is 'on' then it's still offside. Just make it simples init.

I would prefer that to what it currently is. Will change the game as attackers get all the space, so playing a high line becomes majorly risky. Fortunately we have already got Godfrey in, so we don't have to worry about it.

It's the logical way take human error out altogether, it would easily be measurable within fractions of an inch these days.

Sports-medicine scientist-types are putting chips/transmitters on athletes all the time for experiments. Seems like this technology could be used for VAR to draw lines.

Think we’re messing with beautiful the game too much. It’s becoming robotic and part and parcel of football dubious decisions for and against. I know people will say there’s too much at stake but give me a linesman being the only person to make the decision and that’s final.

That's all fine in theory.. but what actually happens then is the Ref pisses himself in Anfield or Old Trafford and ends up botteling decisions. It's worse now with social media the Ref gets abuse online its picked up by some of the rags.. onto their website, click here to see what Chelaea fans had to say about the ref. Take human error out and it's a fair game.

WENGER'S RADICAL RULE CHANGES

Throw-ins - Teams should be able to kick the ball back into play instead of throwing it back in, if they are inside their own half.

Offside - An attacker would not be offside if any part of their body with which they are allowed to score, such as a foot, head or shoulder, is in line with the penultimate defender.

Corners - Kicks which curve out of play and then back in again should be permitted.

Free-kicks - Players should be able to touch the ball to themselves to restart play, not be forced to pass to a team-mate.

The only one I like is the free kick rule. I already think off side favours attackers this is too far. The throw in rule and corner rule are just daft.

I was initially in favor of VAR but seeing it in operation, it hasn't reduced the arbitrariness in calls, it's just made the arbitrariness more easy to see and talk about. They need either a non-arbitrary (or less arbitrary) system or just scrap VAR and go back to what we had.
