I've been 3 times now. Amazing place. If you want to see all of Manhattan, take the Gray line bus tour. The tours are normally in three parts, upper, mid and lower Manhattan. But if you walk in to Times Square, their are ticket sellers everywhere all trying to get your custom, so you can haggle and get all three tours for the price of one.Me and the wife are looking at going to New York mid January next year for 4 nights, staying at a hotel called The Hotel Times Square (if anyone has stayed there)
I'm just looking for info on what would be the top five 'must do' excursions and what amount of $ would be needed for 4 nights, all activities will be pre booked and paid for.
Never been before, but really want to do the main attractions and sample the city itself.
Any info welcome.
You can jump on and off the bus at any place that takes your fancy and just jump on the next one that comes along. You can do Central Park and the Dakota building, go on up to Harlem, and all the way back down to the world trade centre site.
Empire State Building is a must, which you can walk to from where you are, and the Statue of Liberty (although can get very claustrophobic walking up the spiral staircase when busy).
Greenwich village is also a good place to visit. Ellis island is a must also, you can trace any family members that ever left for the new world.
And if after all that, if you still have any time, go to a baseball game. The Yankees or the mets is an amazing day/night out. Really easy to get tickets and even easier to get to. Just jump on the subway, really easy to get around and very safe.
Some amazing bars and clubs dotted about and places to eat, for every taste, everywhere.
