ASM today btw.

He took 4 players with him on every run, totally opening up space for every other Newcastle attacker.

When was the last time Everton had a player like that?

We don't have one in this squad that's for sure

He looked good because our players were making him look good.

Coleman and Holgate were shocking with Keane closely behind.

But the former to were really just letting him do what he wanted.

He really isnt as good as that.

Felt sick watching that, it’s the fear of yet another false dawn more than anything. I know it’s only the managers second game, it’s the manner in which we lost.

It’s why I don’t get overly carried away at any positives, the feeling of being let down yet again. It sounds bad , I felt like just jibbing it off all together watching that second half and I’m someone who witnessed the Walker era.
We lost due to injuries. Gomes would have been hooked earlier otherwise. It is not that he is not skilled enough, quite simply he is not fast enough for this league. Gordon and Gray read each other well and we lost one of those. Keep the faith we have many games to go
Would have been three down at half time a few weeks ago

I understand the points you are making mate but we don’t need to be trying to stifle anyone until half time anymore.

That kind of mentality cost us badly under Benitez because we were always playing catch up.

We need to be setting our to go after them from the start, their defence is sketchy and the new players will need to settle in so I’d keep Gordon, Richy and Gray up front and tell them to run at their defence with a midfield 3 of Gomes, Allan and Alli or DVDB.
On reflection I think I was correct. That game was lost squarely in the midfield with Gomes (and others) getting totally bullied.

My point was is he commits defenders. He took 3-4 players with him each time and that opened up space.

Everton don't have players like that.

He did look decent.
The difference in his mentality was like he was on another planet. A stark reminder of the mentality of others.
Yes we need players for certain positions but we also need rid of players with certain mentality.
The lack of assuredness, decisiveness, faith, the hesitancy, the confusion, the crumbling and stumbling.

Andre Gomes starting didn't surprise me due to his performance in the FA Cup. And I think Frank Lampard had to give Gomes a start after that performance. But it's that feeling you just know Gomes-Alan partnership will self implode sooner or later, after watching Gomes and Alan for so long. But someone else really should've come on for Gomes much earlier.

We lost this one due to self inflicted errors. We had so much possession but could do nothing with it.. and we gave away too many fouls in dangerous areas to let Newcastle creep into the game.

After Mina and Gray out injured, we were terrible. Dele coming on I don't think he did much altho I saw some nice touches and passes. VDB came on a bit too late as he is a huge upgrade to Andre Gomes. Everton defense without Mina is so poor and everybody has said this all year but no CB signed.

Team v Leeds

Pickford

Coleman Holgate Keane Kenny

Gomes Allan VdB

Gordon DCL Richi

I know that team is awful but so is every other option. Presume Mykolenko is still out.
