Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Kopites of the North East plain and simple.

The idea of them being any sort of good just kills me off.

Imagine the media they’re literally a joke of a football club but the press adore them.

The adoration will stop once they begin to become sucessful and tread on the toes of the American owned clubs. They will get hit with the whole 'sportswashing' scene. Just as it happened at City, it won't be immediate. The City takeover happened in 2008 and all was well until we won the league in 2011/12 pipping United at the death. Then it kicked in. Only when City became a major threat did the 'sportswashing' stuff really kick in. The printed newspaper media in particular are going to have a major dilema with this one. In particular The Guardian. The Telegraph and most of all The Independent who have been on a anti Saudi . Abu Dhabi, Middle East, muslim crusade for some years now. To sit back and watch them try and square the circle with Newcastle is going to ba lot of fun!

Wonder how you would feel working for newcastle the fat mess gets 300 odd million in his pockets and you have to badger the government for 80% of your presumably meager wage.

That summer when City signed Tevez and Adebayor after just finishing 10th, was when it started to get seriously ominous. That's like Newcastle going and buying Gabriel Jesus and Aubameyang now, it isn't happening no matter how much money they have. Having said all of this, they aren't getting taken over so it's a null and void discussion.

Heard people saying "They've got a huge stadium and a city to themselves.... investors will love that" all well and good but you get a top player to even consider moving there. The North East is more depressing than Chernobyl. Didn't Robinho think he was signing for Utd when he got to Manchester or something? Or at least say he hadn't heard of them?

"Kyllian, Newcastle are offering 350k..."

"You're offering me a new castle for 350 grand?"

The ownership will be 90% Saudi's PIF fund, 10% Stavely's PCP Capital, 10% Rueben brothers

(Apologies for getting PIF and PCP confused in one of my earlier posts)

The documents lodged at companies house two days ago show a £150m claim related to PCP's long running feud with Barclay's bank.

While Stavely has had a series of bids rejected before by Ashley this now looks almost certain, bar something unexpected and extraordinary, to go ahead.

So is this separate to the £150m Charge to PCP from St James’ holdings 7 days ago?

I’m terrified Newcastle are just going to suddenly buy all the elite players over us and knock us off our perch. I mean look at how long we’ve been billionaires and all the elite players and titles we’ve won in this time. Can’t believe it’s going to come to an end

I agree with much of this sentiment. I think if Newcastle goes the way some are speculating it may, it will be a much bigger threat to manchester City and Liverpool than us. Or in all honesty, to Liverpool and Manchester United who's owners can't compete. They will head the Arsenal route, and as you say, without European football will start to come under pressure re debt.

I don't believe it will go that way though. I don't think anybody comes in and smashes football as Chelsea/City did. It looks a bit fishy around the edges this one.
Disagree we spent close to 450m since moshiri has been here, we just spent it badly.

If they bring back benitez and give him the same amount you would expect them to break the top 6.
Add a couple of shirt sponsers and stadium naming rights and they are good to go.
