Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Doesn’t matter what happens . Newcastle will always be .....well ,Newcastle .
Look at West Ham . New stadium , were going to take over English football . And they are still .......well , West Ham . Still a football irrelevance .

* not to diminish their great achievement in winning the World Cup in ‘ 66 :hayee:

Disagree we spent close to 450m since moshiri has been here, we just spent it badly.

If they bring back benitez and give him the same amount you would expect them to break the top 6.
Add a couple of shirt sponsers and stadium naming rights and they are good to go.

Benitez will have spent close to that already and had them lower than Bruce. They will need to spend a lot more, with a much better manager to do that.

We were essentially mid table, and haven't got very far, they are relegation fodder, the squad is hideous.

Re the Stadium, theyve already agreed a deal a price for that. So it's off the table.

Relax.

Do you mean the Saudi's 80%?

And where does the Mike Ashley loan fit in? Why are the Reuben brothers on board? They work in property don't they?

My gut feeling is, Staveley/PCP will want to run the club.

Yes sorry typo

80% Saudi sovereign wealth fund PIF, 10% Stavely's PCP, 10% Reuben brothers

The Reuben brothers are apparently members of one of Britain's wealthiest families and have a property portfolio worth £18 billion also own Newcastle racecourse.

I'm not sure where the loan fits in it had been reported it was made to Stavely's companies and may well have something to do with covering potential liabilities or something of that nature, it seems to be speculation although could be true.

Whatever the true facts, which will become apparent in a relatively short time, it does look a done deal now.

Who cares?

If we can't compete with Newcastle then we may as well give up.
Well I care. And so should you.

Newcastle already have an amazing stadium and huge fanbase. They just need money and they’re finally going to get it.

I don’t know why the theme here has to always be “Everything is fine Everton are gonna be top of the tree again soon” when in actual fact we’re a million miles away and clubs like Newcastle getting this kind of backing only presents even more opposition.

It’s bad news mark my words. IF it happens obviously.

Their stadium is old style and nothing special and their fanbase manage to actually to sink to the same level as most kopites

I dont care. And see no reason why I should care.

I certainly dont think we'll be top of the tree again soon. But I certainly think we'll improve and dont see Newcastle as a threat.

They have a big support in a one club city. So do Sunderland, Derby, Leeds etc. Outside of the north east their presence is minimal. And support means nothing either.

Stadiums mean nothing either. But surely our new one is gonna be far bigger than SJP anyway?

This kind of takeover is very much dead these days, it just allows you to buy players from smaller clubs for higher fees.

When City were forcing Arsenal and Liverpool to sell first team players, that’s when it was very real for them. Newcastle will just end up signing Neves for £100m

Even City had to go through some dubious 'statememt' signings such as Robinho and ditching manager of the century Mark Hughes lol for Roberto Mancini, their road took time it wasn't overnight by any means although they arrived in the end.

EUFA and especially the morally corrupt mastermind Platini tried to protect the elite cartel paymasters who rewarded him with such bountiful largesse by coming up with FFP under the guise of protecting smaller clubs overspending but really to stop any path for the nouveaux riche to spoil the rich club's monopoly.

If FFP was solely for its laudible said purpose then why not design it so any amount of gifts not loans could be given by very rich men and women's companies to their own clubs with impunity?

City, although Platini's protectiinist trap has caught them, probably thought it worthwhile to ignore such nonsensical and artificial laws on restricting multi billionaires spending their own money.

Although they'll no doubt punish City, the embargo has been broken (Platini's own favourite, the Qatar owned PSG flouted them but remain immune from serious sanctions), there is no turning back.

It may take some time but FFP is finished. It was always a piece of rushed legislation badly put together and while trying in some way to achieve or at least mitigate against bad owners, a very worthwhile and necessary safeguard on clubs massively overspending beyond their means and going bankrupt, it was clumsily put together, meeting out punishments and setting rules for extremely rich owners with soundly run clubs, absolutely unintended targets.

Allowing loans to be turned into gifts will be the sensible step and then FFP can continue to police and achieve the purpose it was supposedly, but never really imo, designed for.

Absolutely no one thinks we’re top of any tree, well run or even any good. What people are fed up with is grown men whining like little girls about boring things that probably won’t even happen.
