Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

The ownership will be 90% Saudi's PIF fund, 10% Stavely's PCP Capital, 10% Rueben brothers

(Apologies for getting PIF and PCP confused in one of my earlier posts)

The documents lodged at companies house two days ago show a £150m claim related to PCP's long running feud with Barclay's bank.

While Stavely has had a series of bids rejected before by Ashley this now looks almost certain, bar something unexpected and extraordinary, to go ahead.

Do you mean the Saudi's 80%?

And where does the Mike Ashley loan fit in? Why are the Reuben brothers on board? They work in property don't they?

My gut feeling is, Staveley/PCP will want to run the club.

This kind of takeover is very much dead these days, it just allows you to buy players from smaller clubs for higher fees.

When City were forcing Arsenal and Liverpool to sell first team players, that’s when it was very real for them. Newcastle will just end up signing Neves for £100m

This essentially. Chelsea went and took the top teams, top players. City to a lesser degree. Look maybe they will go and sign Salah, Van Dijk, De Bruyne in a window. If they do then it will be quite funny. Forgive me though, I'm not sure they will be doing that.

We badly misjudged the power money had in 2016. It led to a series of mistakes. We were fortunate we were starting from a much higher base than Newcastle (and had saleable assets). If they balls it up, the consequence will be much worse.

That summer when City signed Tevez and Adebayor after just finishing 10th, was when it started to get seriously ominous. That's like Newcastle going and buying Gabriel Jesus and Aubameyang now, it isn't happening no matter how much money they have. Having said all of this, they aren't getting taken over so it's a null and void discussion.

Strangely Aubamyang could probably happen. They are not taking City/Liverpool's best players though. In all honesty, Arsenal would probably sell whimper the right price.

yeah we could only take lessers clubs better players (see Sigurdsson) which worked out terribly.

Unfortunately Liverpool have proved that spending on a mixture of great scouting and going big when it matters (Allison and Van Dijk) you can win things.

I just hope we continue on the way of buying younger players but forget about players like Fabian Delph and if we sign anyone of 27+ they’re actually different class.

What would be more disappointing is the PL passing MBS for the strigent owners rules they have in place.

He is a despicable human being with no regard for human life.

Khashoggi, Yemen and having a hitman squad assembled to whack anyone who's a threat to his succession to the throne.

Those owners won't be able to splurge like Chelsea And City did in the early reigns of those owners.

If CAS uphold the FFP charge against City, then Newcastle owners will struggle to dine at the top table, Ceverin has already said FFP is going to be even more stringent.

The turnover is around 250 million and they have no worldwide presence, UEFA and G14 clubs will be watching closely like hawks how they grow revenues.

A couple of things regarding FFP: The rules have been relaxed for 'new owners' who can spend big in years 1 & 2 (it was done to appease Juventus & Inter Milan who were getting left behind). However, they do have to comply within the 3 year ruling but it will give them a bit of a head start. Also, there is no doubt FFP will have to be relaxed at least for a number of years after the crisis otherwise a lot of clubs will struggle to make ends meet. If CAS do uphold the charge against City and I think they will (but with a 1 year ban reduced from 2) then City may well legally contest the very basis of FFP even further (and have already threatened to do so). 'Fair Play' has a sporting basis whilst 'investment' has an economic basis. The left field option is that clubs like City, Newcastle, Everton choose to completely ingnore FFP. Obviously that means that they will not get 'invited' to compete in the European competitions (it is done on an 'invitation' basis) but what credibilty would those competitions have if the top English sides are not involved? Further to this it would just accelerate the breakaway movement for a European Super League competition. If the new Newcastle owners are as wealthy as they maybe then FFP has another big fight on its hands.
