Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

This is extremely bad news for us, Wolves, Leicester etc IF it goes through.

Make no mistake about if, the Saudi’s will turn Newcastle into a power house over time. Financially, Moshiri and the like don’t have anywhere near the wealth of these guys.

Its not largely bad news for us as our ownership of Usmanov & Moshiri combined is worth around £13 billion which is not far off Sheikh Mansour's personal wealth and currently makes us the 2nd richest owners in the league.

IF they are going to try pump in alot of money then its an inconvenience as they will be doing what we are with Usmanov and using sponsers to try get around FFP - which is something that Wolves and Leicester haven't done.

The only positive is that at present their isnt really a top 6 anymore - more a top 2 in which once Klopp leaves and/or Liverpool have a shocker of a TW then it becomes a top 1 with the rest fighting it out for Europe.

Someone is still going to have to explain this to me. If my friend wants to buy a dairy milk and can only afford 80%, so I lend him the 20% that I myself had loaned to me, but he is only going to give me a 10% share? Don't think many people would go for it.

Its not a loan to Stavely simply to have part in purchasing the club, the vast majority of it would go for future use and investment, she gets 10% not 50%. The loan over a stated period would guarantee Ashley getting a big slice of the 80 m shortfall, from his original asking price, back over the term of the loan.

Stavely charged 110m in fees for a previous bid so you can see the kinds of sums her investment vehicles deal in. I wouldn't know how much in fees this may have earned her but it may explain why the Saudi's (or even the elements of the ruling family who are involved) reluctant to spend much over say £240m at the point of purchase, may have been obliging to her if she wanted 10%., Possibly in lieu of a part of the fees?

Staveley was also involved in the purchase of City. From all reports she is exceptionally well connected in the Middle East and is trusted implicitly. That goes a very long way with these people. As previous posters have stated Newcastle is a perfect vehicle for a takeover due to a number of good reasons. The rumours if true are that when Sheikh Mansour made the acquisition of City it came down to a shorlist of two: City & Newcastle but Ashley behaved like a complete bell end during one of the meetings (which is more than believable) and the good Sheikh walked away. Also, it was never Ashley's intent to keep Newcastle but to 'flip it' for a fast buck - which he very nearly did. If the takeover happens then it is my guess (for what its worth) they will do exactly what City did to try and circumnavigate FFP by bringing in large sponsors form the Middle East to quickly boost the revenue which will allow them to spend big on players. It will be interesting to see who these people actually are as in all walks of life there is rich people, very rich people and super rich people. City won the lottery with Sheikh Mansour as he is at the very top of the list. As widely documented he has pumped in circa £1 billion in total to the club, however, it is now valued at £3.74billion and growing. Not a shabby return on investment. For me, if they want to invest in Newcastle then let them get on with it. The Glaziers and FSG are not exactly the best owners in the world but they are tolerated and indeed even lauded as they are American and not Muslim. Any club that can help dilute the media domination of the two clubs in red is OK with me.

There's a lot in that mate. I don't believe Staveley was ever given shares in City though? The situation is also markedly different to 2008. Newcastle are in a far worse state than City in 2008. I'd also add, the loan from Ashley and the fact they won't commit to buying the club is a bit dodgy to me.

I mean there are a lot of reasons why people buy into clubs. It's rare to pump loads of money on transfers.

If the Saudi's are really going to want to plough billions in, it's hard to see why they would not just pay the asking fee initially, and pay her off. You wouldn't give a chunk of ownership to an asset that is going to grow massively.

Look it might be the case it's what they will do, but far more likely is, they have reluctantly paid what they are prepared to put in, and it will be up to Staveley to build a team to effectively run Newcastle.

Multiple sources apparently close to the deal now say the sale and purchase agreement has now been signed by both parties, so already done and lodged with the premier league, they"re now only waiting for premier league approval which should come in less than a month (one week has passed already) but probably sooner.

Usmanov Skotch and Moshiri's official wealth is close to double that mate. And unofficially much higher. I mean if Newcastle come in and blitz it, they it will be far more a threat to the existing top 6. We will still have money to compete either way, and thankfully have moved in a different direction.

Not concerned about this take over personally Newcastle do have room for exponential growth given there local support. However they can't spend there way to the top like Man City did. Highly doubt they try and financially muscle there way into the established top clubs there is too much money in premier league for that to be a realistic proposition. Realistically at absolute best they are two seasons of really good recruitment and coaching acquisitions off even challenging for European spots.

Reckon in future we will see a bit of a mini league at the top Us, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Liverpool, United trading places between the top 7 hopefully with varied winners and possibly on the occasion other clubs having a good year or two.

Those owners won't be able to splurge like Chelsea And City did in the early reigns of those owners.

If CAS uphold the FFP charge against City, then Newcastle owners will struggle to dine at the top table, Ceverin has already said FFP is going to be even more stringent.

The turnover is around 250 million and they have no worldwide presence, UEFA and G14 clubs will be watching closely like hawks how they grow revenues.

The ownership will be 90% Saudi's PIF fund, 10% Stavely's PCP Capital, 10% Rueben brothers

(Apologies for getting PIF and PCP confused in one of my earlier posts)

The documents lodged at companies house two days ago show a £150m claim related to PCP's long running feud with Barclay's bank.

While Stavely has had a series of bids rejected before by Ashley this now looks almost certain, bar something unexpected and extraordinary, to go ahead.
