Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Why dont you think? At the moment, Newcastle are no trouble to us. If they are suddenly able to fight for a Champions League place it only makes it harder for us to break in.

Why would they suddenly be able to fight for the Champions League places by being able to spend an extra £30m a season?

Yep. Hang on I'll try and dig out a better explanation.

There you go

It's an interesting thread and certainly there are some legal challenges that may exist and a loan from Ashley/NUFC could help. Thats one reading. Another reading is that the funds have not been raised wholly, or perhaps they are not willing to put all the money in straight away.

My own gut feeling, as it has been from day 1 is that Staveley is running the club, and will have convinced a member associated to Saudi wealth fund to give her some money to fund the purchase.

All will become clearer I'd imagine. What I would say though, these things tend to take 4 weeks to get to show us the money phase (perhaps a bit conservative but not a bad estimate). Story emerged last week and apparently papers put in the week before. If it goes another 2 weeks without hearing anything, I'd start to become a bit sceptical. Until then, I think we have to work on the assumption the money is there, and it's an accounting exercise why they have gone to Ashley/Newcastle. That being said, it's wholly inconsistent with Everton, City and Chelsea's takeovers.

Not on Twitter me. But when the post starts with "Lawyers" "Confusing" and "Educated Guesses" my suggestion would be its not quite a simple transfer of ownership as you said it was.
12/ The wording of the charge suggests that Ashley, via St James Holdings, will retain security over a specific bank account.

13/ It would seem that Ashley will finance the purchase initially (as otherwise it becomes complex to redeem his investment) and then Cantervale / JV1 will deposit £150m in the relevant bank account and the facility is immediately at an end.

14/ This approach would also explain why the deal was initially reported as being comprised of a £150m deposit and £200 of debt.

15/ There is a clause in the ‘new loan’ that the account doesn’t drop below 13m. This likely represents the 5% deposit that has been reported and would support our view that, subject to clearance of the fit & proper person test, Ashley’s time at NUFC may finally be over......

It may well be pretty normal, having never bought a football club I havnt a clue. But my pea sized lock down fried brain cant get beyond the club is lending £150m to one of several parties that want to buy it.
