Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

I don't doubt he got offers, but the idea that he is solely motivated by money is laughable. why take the NEwcastle job in the first place? He'd have got more money sitting in his account if he'd gone straight to China 3 years prior. Just a testament to your dislike of Liverpool and, by extension, anything associated with them. It's pretty blatant.

I don't think he was "forced out", I think he wanted X, Ashley reneged on his promise to deliver it, and the two couldn't or wouldn't compromise. But if you've got court proven liar, and famously ornery Mike Ashley on one side, and Benitez on the other, which would you believe? Y'know, if you weren't blinded to the truth by bias?

Because Chinese clubs weren’t after him or throwing money around in 2016 as much as they were 3 years later???

I would believe Ashley, because Benitez has been notoriously difficult to deal with at more or less every club he’s ever been at. And he’s an absolute expert at playing the martyr and getting the media to whip up a narrative that makes him look hard done by every single time. Apparently he’s been “unfairly treated” by the boards at Liverpool, Inter, Real Madrid, Napoli and Newcastle. Weird that, isn’t it?

Ashley kept you guys afloat after the terrible mismanagement of his predecessors and how do you thank him? Calling him a fat cockney (from Walsall btw lol) liar and demanding he leaves the club just cos he wouldn’t sign ronaldo. Typical of you lot. Ideas above your station.

You would believe someone who has been proven in a court to be a liar on multiple occasions, someone who discriminated against a cancer sufferer, someone who treats his staff apallingly, someone who jacked up the price of sports gear to capitalise on a global pandemic... that guy? That's the guy you'd believe over someone who, at worst, is difficult? That is predictably ridiculous.

Is this thread still going? That's what happens when you get a pandemic and you're stuck inside. People will post on any old topic.

I hope Newcastle get Rafael back. Another season or two of nothingness before any money can take a hold of them. Can they take Steve Walsh and Ronald Koeman after he gets the boot?

Way I see it, even with the oil prices taking the pounding they are, Newcastle United will still be in a better financial position than they were under Mike Ashley. The Reuben brothers alone are worth many times more than Ashley.

Well to a degree yes, though I doubt they have any serious interest in putting any money into the club.

Even if this takeover goes ahead... FFP will inevitably mean they cant do what chelsea and City did anyway. I think if that kind of approach was still possible then we would be doing it right now.

It will simply put them on a level playing field with us and unfortunately due to the best part of a decade of poor management/coaching we dont have a particularly strong advantage over them on the pitch currently.

We'd do it with ineptitude. Already did to an extent.

I might be reading it wrong, but it reads to me like you think that the Saudis are broke so can't pump money in, & the Reubens won't put any money in. We'd be in exactly the same position as we are under Ashley. Seems bizarre to me that the takeover would happen at all under those circumstances... why would the three groups be remotely interested in buying a football club if they've no interest in doing anything with it?

The same reason Stan Kroenke is at Arsenal, it is a nice little earner and an asset that can be used to be leveraged in other businesses activities.

Not saying that is the case with these guys but that is why they might come and tread water.

If it goes the other way and they do spend money it will still take ages to get somewhere while FFP is still in place, look how we had to give everyone 100k wages p/w to get anyone with a name. Then you struggle to get rid of them thereafter!
