Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

People that most Newcastle fans definitely aren't like and don't want to be associated with:

Fans in the stadium with their tops off
People holding up pro-Liverpool signs
True Geordie (1.82m subscribers)
Every writer from The Mag (top selling fanzine)
Every fan with a Twitter account

We're covering a lot of ground here lads. This is becoming one hell of a minority.
Some of us do take off our tops. So far you've shown one numpty holding up a sign, The Mag stopped selling in 2014 so no idea how you've come up with the idea that it's the top selling fanzine? And if we're going off twitter, (which I don't because I'm a grown up), your fans are right "meffs".

How's the takeover going? How long will it take?

I googled it and it came up with answers from December 2017 so I presume that was one of the former takeovers that fell through. If I was a Newcastle fan, I'd like to see some fairly fixed dates, and then to see what happens on them to gauge if it's real or a big hoax again.

In terms of online subscribers you massive dolt.

You're in the minority then and there's no need to pretend otherwise.

There's no need to pretend your fans all hate Liverpool, it's not scoring you any points on here because we all see through it. We weren't born yesterday, we have had enough experience of your fans ourselves to realise this. I've had YNWA sung at me at your train station by a gang of about 30 Newcastle fans after we lost up there in 2014.
I don't pretend all our fans hate Liverpool, I state that despite your ridiculous claims, we don't all love them, in fact those that do like them must be in the minority because I've not met many.
Because you're an Everton fan. Using that song to give you lip doesn't mean we don't give them lip when they're up.

I've no doubt that you'd sing the praises of Sunderland in an effort to wind up a Newcastle fan, even if you couldn't stand them yourself.

I pick up that quote because it's misleading, it's up to @Spotty to defend his position, not me.

Again, nobody has bought a club from Mike Ashley before and several parties have failed. He's a famously ornery negotiator who has a reputation for moving goalposts and making kneejerk decisions. You ask the reasonable question, why has this takeover been so protracted. I say the answer lies with Ashley, not the buyers. It doesn't help that there are three parties and that one party has so much baggage.

I dont think Messers Bates, Siniwatra and Kenwright are known to be the easiest to negotiate with. I may even speculate a damn site harder than Ashley in many ways.

I dont ask a question per se. I make an observation that where owners have pumped a lot of money in, negotiations have been closed very quickly, even if they are negotiating with difficult individuals (perhaps more difficult than Ashley).

The evidence seems to be, he has a price, they dont want to pay it, and he may be a bit dismissive in communications. If you want to buy and invest heavily, you would generally be expected to out this to one side and move quickly. In fact this has been exclusively done in football.

Generally the owners who haven't done the above, have tended to stall.

Now this doesnt automatically mean they fit into category 2 not category 1. But with the information we have, the view that they wont be investing in line with Everton, Chelsea and City would seem to be far more likely than they are. That doesnt make it certain, but it's unlikely given the information we have.

As you say, maybe renowned businessman Mike Ashley, who's done hundreds of deals is not only hard to deal with, but so much harder to deal with than a Shiniwatra, Bates and Kenwright (ah man Alex Ferguson personally highlights as being hard to negotiate with). I mean it's highly unlikely but it's a possibility I suppose. If I was laying either though, I'd be laying that they are just not that interested.

What, no I wouldn’t, why would I do that? I can assure you I’ve never ever sung Blue Moon at United fans, or pro-Arsenal songs at Spurs fans. Genuinely, why would you do that?

Why pay the deposit, why put up with the delays at all? If they're not that interested why be remotely interested? Seems a very expensive, very pointless exercise if you're not that bothered?

I have repeated that Newcastle will likely not see the sort of largesse that Man city and Chelsea fans enjoyed when their takeovers went through, mostly because of those takeovers and the more rule changes that followed.

I think they have some interest, just not the level if interest showed by owners such as City, Everton or Chelsea.

I think its peripheral to them. Similar to lots of other sports. They will dip their toe in, with a "westerner" who they trust to run things. I think they see a potential to make money from it, so it's worth the risk. You have to watch the pennies though, if it's an investment. Someone works out the expenditure spent, the potential income and the risk.
