Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

This really is the gift that keeps giving.

They’re now trying to convince themselves that after Ashley’s ‘nothing to do with me lads’ statement, that it’s back on.

Wonderful stuff.

In fairness it's nothing to do with Ashley, but not for the reasons they think. He's the victim in this, to a massive time wasting operation. The buyer has pulled the plug, it's an awful thing to do. You have to question their overall commitment in such a situation and take everything they say now with a pinch of salt.

Just looking through some of their desperate pleas and what becomes clear to me, is in spite of them making out they are experts on takeovers etc, they don't know gthe first thing about them.

They seem to be of the view that the PL has blocked this. If you were looking from afar that is what youd think has happened. The PL has done no such thing. The buyers have walked away.

All this talk of petitioning the PL/government to allow the takeover to "go through" again shows no understanding of the situation. There is no takeover as there is now no buyer. The PL, the government or an enquiry is not going to tell you why the buyer pulled out, only the buyer themseves can do it, and their representative is all over the news making a fool of herself.

What I'll also add, is that to me it would be very rare for a buyer who had any serious intentions of investment (I'm not talking City level of investment either, just a comparatively minor level of investment) who would pull out just because it was taking a bit of time. It essentially shows how little commitment they had, and ultimately how it was a vehicle to extract money as opposed to invest money.

The problem is, too many of their guys are just too deep into this now to row back without giving up their credibility. They have gone for it hook line and sinker. I mean it would be like me telling everything Usmanov is coming in and we are going to spent billions and be the new Real Madrid (which is more likely to occur than the Saudi's buying Newcastle and doing the same) but you have to be balanced and give cavaets to people. I think we willspend some money this summer, but it won't be transformationally and ultimately I don't know 100%. You look at the evidence available and reflect it honestly. They hven't done that at all, and a lot of them have been thoroughly dishonest., pretending they had information which patently they couldn't have had.

Whatever the sceptics think, and its no wonder there are so many after the perennial takeover failures, this now does look extremely likely to happen.

This is the largest sovereign wealth fund in the world and Newcastle are certain to enter the elite group of clubs eventually.

With FFP restrictions it will take far, far longer and not be immediate by any means, years away, but it's fairly certain they will get there eventually with this backing, it's immense.

Nope

Another side buying trophies. Great.

Not this time

It will happen eventually surely

Nada

This is extremely bad news for us, Wolves, Leicester etc IF it goes through.

Make no mistake about if, the Saudi’s will turn Newcastle into a power house over time. Financially, Moshiri and the like don’t have anywhere near the wealth of these guys.

No

Well, if this goes ahead (and it looks very much like it is) the Saudi Wealth Fund is worth over £300 billion ( Yes Billion).
Eventually the ground they have will be extended to over 60,000...!

Wrong

Could be a gamechanger this. Sad cos I hate Newcastle

Won't be

If the Saudis buy Newcastle it will be another major rival. I mean, Newcastle have a massive support, and they will have money to burn.

Nope, again

Sad times this. Aside from all of the obvious stuff about the Saudi regime, this is another club that within a few seasons will have spent ridiculous money and left us further behind a top 4/6 place.

Womp Womp

And I survived the vaults on this one. Glorious.
Well done. I'm frantically checking to see if I had tittylip over it. lol lol lol

In the true spirit of the thread, I think everyone should be absolved of their sins as we've all came out of it hilariously entertained and realise that Mike Ashley is a footballing god and his tormenting of the jawdee nation is a good thing indeed.
