Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

I can’t see Newcastle ever being a force. They had their chance a few years back and blew it. It’s not a place top players want to go to. The amount of money it would take to compete, it just won’t happen. The wages they would have to pay would be unbelievable. Never saw the fascination of them being a massive club. Well supported yes, but they have done nothing for centuries.

Looked at their honours yesterday and was shocked at how good their history is. Prior to 1960, they had double the honours of the RS (4 league titles and 6 FA Cups, to 5 league titles...and the FA Cup back then was arguably bigger to win)

Jackie Milburn was a big name striker I believe. Even since their trophy drought, they’ve always had top attacking players, MacDonald, McDermott, Keegan, Waddle, Gascoigne, Beardsley, Cole, Ferdinand, Shearer. They routinely get over 50k, and I’d say they could sell out 70k with a top side to watch.

They are a big club, but have underachieved for ages. The drought makes them look a lot smaller than they are.

Well done. I'm frantically checking to see if I had tittylip over it. lol lol lol

In the true spirit of the thread, I think everyone should be absolved of their sins as we've all came out of it hilariously entertained and realise that Mike Ashley is a footballing god and his tormenting of the jawdee nation is a good thing indeed.
I used to think the man had the business acumen of a newt but now I’m starting to think he’s some kind of guru at even business deity

Can someone please find the page where all this second Saudi bid started and the Geordies came on here to celebrate

I want the names of every regular poster whose arse fell out and started slating Everton for not being minted

@Chris O'Connor's arse fell out a bit, as did @Lloydystark. I think @ForeverBlue92 was just memeing but he definitely dropped his guts when it was first announced way back in June 2019, see also @GwladysBlue who actually managed to stay grounded during the second wave.

Notable mentions as well for the little weasel @havrey0123 who posted several times about it before disappearing back into whichever god forsaken hole he crawled out from, as well as fellow top blue @dow1978

And the Nobel prize for literature goes to ... Mrs James Ferne for this stunning short story

1596205303092.webpIt’s a tragic epic tale of love, loss and revenge. The protagonist (James Newcastle United Fan) is angry. Very angry. And he DEMANDS answers. Set in Victorian Britain, where hanging and murdering people is common place, James has had the love of his life ripped from him by the nefarious Richard Masters (boo) James cuts him down in one scene, chillingly telling him ‘You Richard have a lot to answer for’ lol The story builds and builds, leading us to the chilling line ‘things are going to get very messy’lollol shouts James to Richard as they do battle on horseback in the final climatic cliff top battle scene. I can’t reveal too much but let’s just say that James has a black belt in the ancient martial art equino! A tour de force of literature. As soon as I finished reading I went straight back to the start again.
lollollollollol 5 smiler! It’s a five smiler. An incredible end to this whole saga. The cherry to top the greggs empire biscuit! The knockout blow to the horse! The magical final magpie tattoo on an obese man’s breast. Farewell my friend. God speed.

Just looking through some of their desperate pleas and what becomes clear to me, is in spite of them making out they are experts on takeovers etc, they don't know gthe first thing about them.

They seem to be of the view that the PL has blocked this. If you were looking from afar that is what youd think has happened. The PL has done no such thing. The buyers have walked away.

All this talk of petitioning the PL/government to allow the takeover to "go through" again shows no understanding of the situation. There is no takeover as there is now no buyer. The PL, the government or an enquiry is not going to tell you why the buyer pulled out, only the buyer themseves can do it, and their representative is all over the news making a fool of herself.

What I'll also add, is that to me it would be very rare for a buyer who had any serious intentions of investment (I'm not talking City level of investment either, just a comparatively minor level of investment) who would pull out just because it was taking a bit of time. It essentially shows how little commitment they had, and ultimately how it was a vehicle to extract money as opposed to invest money.

The problem is, too many of their guys are just too deep into this now to row back without giving up their credibility. They have gone for it hook line and sinker. I mean it would be like me telling everything Usmanov is coming in and we are going to spent billions and be the new Real Madrid (which is more likely to occur than the Saudi's buying Newcastle and doing the same) but you have to be balanced and give cavaets to people. I think we willspend some money this summer, but it won't be transformationally and ultimately I don't know 100%. You look at the evidence available and reflect it honestly. They hven't done that at all, and a lot of them have been thoroughly dishonest., pretending they had information which patently they couldn't have had.

The PL probably did them a massive favour for once not just stamping approved on the paperwork. Like you say she definitely promised the Saudis a return, 'TV contracts are booming' and all that jazz , illustrating how much Kroenke/Glazers have benefited owning a PL club. I can't see any reason if they were willing to spend why have they pulled out now? They were obviously looking to just invest what comes out and they knew with decreased income from no supporters and possible ramifications from a global financial meltdown that a) TV contracts and sponsorship may be down in future years and thus b) the value of the club will stagnate, so no chance of a quick sell for a decent profit in a few years time.

Not a one-page, or two-page, or four-page, or five-page statement. No. A three-page statement. Nothing more, nothing less.
