Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

The Tory Government will have been pushing for this to go through. All part of the plan to use soft power to encourage investment into the country from all sorts of odious regimes.

That's what you get for voting Brexit. One of its many unforseen consequences. Newcastle leapfrogging all but City with their spending power...and it'll pushing this club down the pecking order further still.

I don't know what to think really. City, PSG, others no doubt have questionable connections. Now this.

Football has so utterly changed from the fun game my dad and I followed in the 60s that this latest bombshell hardly surprises.

Would I feel outrage if Everton was taken over by forces of darkness?
Mebbe's aye. Mebbe's naw.......

So in essence, their stance is this: if a journalist being beheaded and dismembered is what it takes for me to get excited by high value transfer rumours then so be it.

It's more the "If I was a Newcastle fan I'd be outraged / done with the club" shouts that are going on.

Those same individuals would be bending over backwards to celebrate, make excuses and indulge in whataboutery if Everton were in that situation. They'll speak only positively about where the money behind Everton has come from. But they also speak with righteous moral indignation about sportwashing when it comes to other clubs.

The same way we've seen the RS suddenly becoming ultra eco-aware and sensitive to the historical importance and heritage of Bramley Moore Docks.

It's the ones who've been on the verge of being done with football for God knows how long now. They're always on the cusp of turning their back on the cesspit that English football has become. And then something slightly exciting or positive involving their club happens and those concerns seemingly evaporate only to return when the form dips or a rival club looks to be benefiting from exactly the same thing.

It's tribalism and envy hiding behind morality.
God, the worst argument that gets trotted out in situations like this 'you'd act differently if it was Everton'. Plenty of Evertonians have voiced concerns about Keijan, SportPesa, Moshiri, and other links. Just because you'd struggle to find a backbone if something or someone morally questionable was involved with Everton does not mean others wouldn't. And, even if some fans were hypocrites, it does not invalidate their argument.

Imagine being a Sunderland fan and waking up to the news - possibly with a hangover.

Lucky white heather?
Get yer lucky white heather here.........

Nothing we haven't experienced considering we've watched the lot next door win 2x Champions Leagues, a league title and a few FA/League Cups in recent years.

I wish Usmanov would just sack off FFP and just dope us enough to win a trophy im not arsed if they ban us from europe or give us a points deduction just give us an FA Cup and I'll be happy lol

I don’t think a club has ever gone from bottom half to just spending a load of money and being good and as we saw in the last window, it’s even harder to do so right now.
Look at some of the rubbish City wasted their money on when they got rich. It took them a long time until they got lucky taking a punt on some players who weren’t big names. Toure was booted out of Barca as Pep didn’t want him, Silva wasn’t elite, De Bruyne had been booted out of Chelsea etc.

Now also look at the way a club like Man United spend their money. It’s ok for them because FFP won’t touch them because they have insane revenue being one of the biggest clubs in world football but they’ve spent insane amounts on failures. Early days but Sancho at £70m, Van de Beek at 40 odd, Fred was 50odd, Maguire is good IMO but 80m ffs.

Right now, Newcastle don’t have a single player that walks into our team. ASM would’ve done but look at Gray and Townsends output and tell me they’re not more effective. It’ll be a long time before they can even compete with us, let alone at the highest level.
