Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Saka and DCL lollollollollol
Be careful what we laugh at.
I remember Blackburn asking Spurs how much they wanted for Lineker, Spurs doubled the first number they thought of and Blackburn said OK, put him on the next train, Spurs crapped themselves and went off in the corner.
Blackburn had to sack the manager and bring in someone with credibility before anyone would take them seriously (Dalgleish).
The following week he signed Shearer.

I think UEFA's reaction will be more telling long term - do they stick with the current rules or bring in much tougher ones that effectively neutralise English club dominance financially?

Yes but is it going to get to the stage where European football is small fry? Say the rumour of the Saudi’s buying a media company and purchasing the PL rights on a huge deal comes to fruition. Not sure how UEFA could neutralise in that scenario

Some lateral thinking from RAWK:

"I’ll make a total U-turn on the way I felt only a few months back about the Super League. Anything to keep these nouveau riche arseholes out.
Hope the new signatories to the new Super league stipulate at least 2 European Cups won in 2 different decades. At least the red Mancs have got the credentials. That’s one place this lot, Chelsea and PSG can’t buy their way into."

Well the new UEFA FFP rules coming into force are less strict than the ones previously and focus on wages 70% of turnover.

It'll be interesting to see if UEFA do a U Turn in the coming months/seasons.

I'll be shocked if there isn't an eventual split in European football between clubs playing for UEFA and clubs for the ESL - all clubs will likely stay in their domestic leagues with those in the ESL having a financial advantage.

Basically ESL becomes CL and UEFA Europa League.

Our government have allowed a bunch of slave owning murderers to to invest into the English football shameful
What as opposed to selling the Saudi’s £1.4 billions worth of arms some of which they use to kill in Yemen not being shameful. .? I actually think the Geordies have a point , why should they be used as the Moral Compass for the UK? If people think the Saudis act appallingly then I agree but let’s have consistency in dealing with them.

When City blew up the old top 4 it led to multiple opportunities for us Spurs Leicester to all have a run at the top 4. We were in danger of a new top 4 solidifying itself with Arsenal and Spurs left on the periphery. If Newcastle do add to that mix it’s not a other team ahead of us, it’s another one of City Chelsea Liverpool and United that won’t be getting top 4 every season. The more clubs that can’t guarantee CL football to potential signings then the more ups and downs these individual clubs are going to have.
Agree with this pretty much.
Not arsed if they go on and win the league ten years straight.
We're not going to anytime soon, regardless of Newcastle's new found wealth.
So may as well smash up the established lot.

I like this quote on there:

Norway is a democracy of course. The people ultimately own the wealth fund. It certainly doesn't belong to a tyrant who is in the business of asset-stripping his own country and diverting its resources into his own bank account. I imagine the Norwegians have better plans for their oil wealth than owning a football club in a foreign country.

Having said that Liverpool FC has always been a bit Norwegian, hasn't it?
