Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

I didn't say 'better'. I said 'bigger'. Because it is.

The Saudi state/PIF buying a club is bigger than anything that has been seen in English football. Indeed, European football, because of the wealth involved.

These are fachts, David. The PIF alone is worth what, £230billion?

City's owners are worth £23bn.

The PIF is is the entire investment fund for Saudi, across all investments, with the aim of making money. That money is not wholly available for Newcastle to spend.

To further this very valid point, PIF was set up to diversify Saudi's GDP, to try to move away from oil.
It's the driving force behind their 'Vision 2030' thing that they're pushing.
Yes, they're going to spend but the vehicle is an investment opportunity driven beast, the vast bulk of the fund is already spread amongst huge companies like Google, Apple, Twitter etc.

If they really wanted to invest they would of bought a Brentford or Spurs, teams in London will find it much easier to get players. The amount they are going to need to spend just on the stadium and a new training ground before they have any chance of getting big names.

They are going to need spend close to 1billion to get any where near CL.

Yes exactly this. I'm not saying they dont back Newcastle, potentially quite heavily, but that this fund is exclusively for Newcastle is patently untrue.

The competition in London is huge though.

That's to many for my liking.
For such a sound city
I don't know what gets into them at the footy, absolutely kopite, semi Rangers/Celtic vibes about them,
They do my head in.
Im mates with a few cracking Geordies lads n lasses, and have had a load of brilliant night outs and weekends up in Newcastle, it's a boss city and reminds me of a lot Liverpool.

Once you start them talking about footy, or anytime theres a match on up there, they go very kopite-like.

How they go about it is gonna be very interesting, they need to spend to try stay up for sure, but who they target is key.

Any player they go for from most clubs now will receive a 200% mark up.

If they're smart they don't get gouged - but can see them throwing silly money at the likes of Tarkowski (with six months left he should be cheap - but can see them throwing 20m at Burnley to get him in January), likes of Davies, Keane and Holgate we could actually manage to get rid off for good fees - Here's hoping.

Staveley is massively digging them a hole with all her "we want to win the premiership in 5 years nonsense" all that does is create pressure and let's everyone know they're gonna be desperately spunking cash all over the shop

Here's hoping the sack Bruce - hire someone like Gerrard or Lampard and have a merry-go-round of managers with no plan whilst they waste cash (the Everton template so to speak)

They probably sign the likes of Ramsey, Barkley, Ward-Proise and then get Courtino as there Stella signing, maybe Abam(Arsenal striker can’t spell his name) load of mercs for loads of wages who won’t turn up half the time
