Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

I suppose he took over a so-so Celtic team who almost botched the League against Aberdeen and then turned them into invincible treble winners with a few shrewd signings

As for Swansea and Liverpool, didn't he essentially inherit already good teams?

Still were the best team in the Scottish League though. If Neil Lennon can win back to back titles, then anyone half decent will dominate.

They were in a bit of a mess following Deila's run, so he did well to win the League so dominantly in all fairness to him, especially with Rangers back up and all the momentum on their side

@Toast and I actually had a bet on Aberdeen to win the League during the Deila days as it honestly seemed on at one stage

Yes
I agree. Genuinely, if this was Everton I would never watch them again. You can't compromise on some things. Most of you know that I live in Durham and I'm a Trade Union rep. I know many Newcastle fans, a lot of them also Trade Union officials. They are all ecstatic about this takeover. I'm shocked, appalled and so disappointed with them. Especially as a few years ago they were all up in arms about Paolo Di Canio being appointed manager of Sunderland because of his fascist views.

So very very shallow.
I think I’d start supporting a non league team. You have to stand by your principles. I wonder if the majority of our fans would be the same? I dunno.

Newcastle fans go on about Ashley all the time but the previous owners sacked robson, appointed terrible managers, called Geordie woman dogs while in a brothel if I remember right. Also they had the likes of Dyer and Bramble getting up to very bad things in town and there was the case in a hotel in London that resulted in Shearer lamping Dyer in training and there was barely a peep out the fans cos they had a half decent team.

Also I’m not sure, given our probable ownership, that we are in the best position to throw stones. I’m not saying it’s the same level, but we perhaps shouldn’t be so quick to judge.
I’m inclined to agree to a degree. Rich and powerful people are rarely squeaky clean.
Bit of an upgrade on this one though.

An oligarch who made his money in Russia during the period he did is in no way squeaky clean. There’s a reason why he set up his own company to get around anti money laundering rules in the UK
For sure. Often think about sacking the whole thing off. Got a few local teams round me that are suitably tragic
