Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Appointing a new chairman on day one and seemingly in the process of replacing Bruce shows they mean business. I'd expect a near total clear-out there in a short timeframe.

It wouldn't necessarily take 4-5 years to get them competing seriously. They won't attract big-name players immediately but money talks and it's certainly possible to get in or around the top 4 in a short enough timeframe. Having money doesn't necessarily mean that they have to go through a process where they waste it.

We had a "takeover" in 2016 and still retain the chairman and retained the CEO for a number of years afterwards, then to be replaced by an in-house appointment. Some people wonder why things haven't progressed, that's why.

According to a football finance author quoted in The Sunday Times, Newcastle can spend £205m straight away without fouling FFP or PL rules plus if they sign someone for £100m on a 5 year contract, it can be written done as £20m/yr .. or effectively they can sign 10 x £100m players immediately
Knock yourselves out, is my initial reaction...but be very, very careful who is doing the choosing (been there etc)
And that's before you even get to the Manager.

So the owners of Newcastle will, I suppose, now start pouring money in, getting around FFP with things like insane sponsorship deals etc. Looks to me like our owners aren’t going to do this anytime soon so I think within 3/4 seasons Newcastle will be another team to breeze past us. So frustrating to watch your club become, well, Newcastle. Just there to make up the numbers. I think we really have to hope that FFP is scrapped soon and Moshiri (and friends) can start spending like he says he wants to.
Didn't somebody say similar about the newly promoted Wolves?

Dave's boy Lucien Favre getting linked with the Newcastle job apparently, along with Rodgers

I must admit, seeing Rodgers bail on yet ANOTHER club mid-season would be kind of amusing

Rodgers wouldn't do that as he's "a man of integrity".

You can always tell when someone has integrity because they need to tell everyone they have integrity.

That's how it works.

As an aside I don't think he'll last the season at Leicester. He soon gets on his way when his tinpot philosophy is found out.

I imagine Newcastle will start to get favourable refereeing decisions. All that money they now have will want to be spent by a Premier League club not a Championship one.

It's interesting seeing so many pundits act like Newcastle is a bigger club than Leicester right now, especially considering how Leicester and it's fans proper big-timed Celtic when they took Rodgers from them

Todgers is over rated - he has a good 2 seasons or so then it falls apart.

Did it at Liverpool and it's happening now at Leicester after two 5th place finishes. If he doesn't jump ship can see him getting booted at the seasons end.
