Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

I was shocked Trippier was 31 years of age. Seems he has only been relevant recently so what was he doing previously? I suspect he is one of those average players that suddenly has a purple patch and becomes fashionable. Good luck to him but probably isn’t going to save Newcastle from the drop
Was at City for ten years in the academy and then 3 years at City without making any appearances, most of it on loan to Barnsley, Sold to Burnley who sold him to Spurs and now at Atletico Madrid.

£30 million is nothing to them though. They just need the players to keep them up this season. If they do, they will probably spend around £200 million in the summer. Trippier will then probably be replaced season after next.

Trippier was in La Liga's team of the season.

He's still a very good player.

Sadly Newcastle will be another hurdle to overcome in the next 3-5 years as they have an unlimited supply of dough and will bribe their way around FFP.

They also have Eddie Howe in charge, who spend stupid money on less than average players at Bournemouth

Might not be altogether a bad thing that they bottled playing us last week. The way we're playing, a win for the barcodes at Goodison might have given them some self-belief and something to build on.

99.9% of all top-flight footballers are mercenaries. The trick is just finding the ones smart enough to play for one last payday as opposed to what we’ve done, and what Newcastle are doing with Trippier, and BEING the one last payday.
Exactly, but signing a nice shiny household name gets you nothing imo.
Finding a hungry footballer who loves the game and not the contract are hard to find in the modern game.

I've heard there's none hungrier than Rondon. Oh please don't put a bit in Newcastle as it would force us to sell the one man who could fire you into safety.
