Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Signing old past it players when you need to rebuild an entire squad lacking talent. It's just not a good first step. Not particularly cheap either.
In todays market its not a lot of money. Surely their first objective is to stay in the prem league. Players today are not past it at 31, still 3 plus years left for him. I think he is a decent player, had a good spell in Spain tbf.

Think this is a good signing for them. Not that expensive and a player that could help steer them from relegation. They need to focus on the short term, so it makes sense.

If the rumours of £250k a week are true, for a 31-year old, then Christ, this is exactly what Newcastle don’t need to be doing.

Good player trippier but is this the right move?

It’s not, but you’ve got to be realistic haven’t you?

Newcastle have so many holes and is Trippier what they need, right now? Great player, still got time at the top, but they’re in a relegation scrap. For me, you fix the genre centre halves, midfield, goalkeeper and get a striker.

Big gamble in my eyes.

Fair comment mate. We dont know who else they might be getting to get out of relegation trouble, so Trippier could be the first of 4/5 new signings, and as you say, get whats needed.

It`ll be the next few signings that make or break them with regards to relegation or not.

They`re getting a very good player, who will always put a shift in with Trippier, however if they sign players like Ramsey, Coutinhio, they aren`t going to get that level of graft from them.

They need grafters now and if they can stay up, luxury players afterwards.

It’s not about how much money they have. If they go down they’ll get battered by Football League FFP if they have players on that much. They seem a hell of a lot stricter on it also compared to the prem.

But they are sound FFP wise mate. Even if they go down they'll be right back up with players like Trippier, ASM, Wilson still at the club.

They’re sound for now but playing in the championship with players on 175k with no guarantee of coming back up isn’t something I’d be gambling on.
