Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Seems scattershot to me. £100mill to try and stay in the premiership with Trippier, Matt Target, Chris Wood. If they do, they'll have to spend another £200mill trying to form a decent midtable side.

By then Howe will get sacked as they'll be wanting top 4 challenges.

Bit like us....
They’ll be spending 100’s of millions.

I don’t think there’s anything worse than someone popping in to boast about all the money their team is spending, funded by people who chop off people’s heads if they don’t like what they have been saying. At least pretend to be embarrassed about it.

This transfer window has been funded by the club, which has had loads of money sat doing nowt thanks to Mike Ashley's frugality. We still have about seven players from our Championship season five years ago routinely in the matchday squad so it's high time they were upgraded. Fingers crossed what we've recruited actually are upgrades, but the signs are good.

I went to watch Gateshead vs York the other day btw. Think it was you who told me I should drop everything and support Heed cos of the Saudi stuff? Apols if not, might have been Generic Angry Everton Fan #72.

Not boasting btw, just contributing to the existing discussion.

I guess if you've got unlimited money, then desperately spending 200m on average players just to stay in the division, and then probably spending a further 200/300m on slightly better players in the summer to aim for Europe is a pretty good way to do it. Of course Howe will never manage Newcastle should they qualify for Europe, he'll be punted for a bigger name as soon as they make the breakthrough, but at least he's proven himself to be a man of absolutely no morals at all by working for the Saudis.

I very much doubt that you would have attracted those players with just the money that Ashley saved up but you never know. I am talking about wages more than the fee itself.

Off topic, always a weird 90 minutes watching Gateshead, when I was regularly going home and away with Barrow, in the Unibond/Conference North, to all these small compact grounds then you rock up at the International Stadium and sit with 300 people, spread out in one big stand, watching from a mile away.

Howe will get sacked, by popular demand, Benitez will go back and will do as much damage, as Koeman did here.

Barrow are hanging in on there at the mo and hopefully have enough to stay up.

Got a mate who lives not far away - Gleason, who’s a blue and he goes to watch them quite a bit since he’s moved up there.

lolWell aren’t you a hero. I went there with Fylde and they sold my mate human faeces from the canteen.

How did York do ?

At the start of the season, they were favourites, but it`s all gone West for them ( again ).

Via my missus, who is a Yorkie, they`ve become my second team.

I really enjoy lower league footy, as it hasn`t been ruined by money and the demands of tv.

York are absolutely stinking and are my second team too on account of being a native. Probably the worst season in their history, they're in a terrible state. Awful owners, awful team, allegations of gambling issues within the squad, had their identity ripped away from them with the stadium move. All very depressing! That they got a draw at home to leaders Gateshead was a huge shock.

It’s getting harder and harder to get out of that league too.

Used to love a night match at Bootham and a few pints in the Bootham Tavern and White Horse afterwards.

What ever the skunks do now and, anything they achieve, will be seen by all other fans as being on the back of dirty money from a murderous regime.
They will get zero respect for it
That is the case with every single club that wins anything. No matter who they are there is always someone to say it doesn't mean anything because of : insert excuse here............
