Re the benchmark thing?

I've never thought Everton fans were unreasonable especially; I just thought it was a bit rich that an Everton fan might suggest Newcastle fans are unreasonable when the optics suggest the opposite.

Got you mate, wondered what that was. I suppose it's the Motto isnt it.

For clarity, I think when people.say Newcastle fans are unreasonable or whatever, it's not for them wanting a team that tries, or even a team that wins. It's just some of the ludicrous statements some of your fans have made, about signing Mbappez or frankly even signing the likes of DCL or Richarlison, as if it is inevitable it would happen.

I think weve seen from the last window, it's not going to be easy to attract decent players to Newcastle, so the assumption you can take other teams best players are a bit unrealistic.

Aiming to be the best though, theres nothing wrong with that. Every club should want that.

Of course, I totally agree. It was just ironic.

I think you and I have been over the signings stuff. Anyone saying we should be signing Mbappe or whatever has got a screw loose.

I do think we'll see a decent pedigree of player being recruited if we stay up. Bruno and Trippier were both coveted by more prestigious clubs, whilst - by all accounts - Botman, Carlos and Lingard were all blocked from coming by their current employers. Gosens is the only one who's publicly said they didn't want to come here but I'm sure there'll have been others.

But yeah, the Mbappe stuff was always a cringe.

I think Lingard wanted to come here ironically (from the same fella who told me wed sign Alli, even though others-including Newcastle fancied him).

I'm not sure many really wanted to pay the dough for Trippier, but Bruno is a good signing.

I've got no issue with Newcastle fans wanting to be the best, but I suppose it's more the arrogance of how easy/automatic it is that grates a bit. I do think they are different things.

They will also separate us from say Liverpool.or United fans, who just dont want other teams dreaming of being the best. They want to stitch it up. That's completely wrong for me. The system shouldnt be gerrymandered to prevent teams being the best, as it has been.

I'm surprised people see Evertonians as unrealistic though. I find most to be overly pessimistic!

Again, I don't. I've never been to Goodison, though Rory Smith says it's the most unreasonably moany ground and he's brilliant so there's one account I'd trust, heh.

But nah, I haven't even met that many Everton fans tbh. I've had one good mate in the past who was a Toffee and blue would be the appropriate term. lol My waffle was just in the context of the banners really.

PS Trippier was a bargain at 12 mill! Think that one fell nicely for us though really. He wanted to come back to the north of England and he had an existing relationship with Howe, so it was on a platter really.

I'm not sure who Rory Smith is mate.

I'm not sure Trippier will be a bargain, you will not get your money back on him, but hes made a good start and is a good right back.

Oh yes I know him. He is a posh Kopite mate, so little wonder he thinks that.

Did he give any justification as to why he thinks its "unreasonably" meant? Did it not meet old posh boy Rory Antoinettes standards? Was he hoping for some cake? ?

I like the odd podcast, but try to avoid anything with that preening idiot on it. I cant say I've heard anything remotely sensible from him. No doubt he will be clutching his pearls about Newcastle soon. Just watch.
 

Uefa will be giving extra CL places to clubs in the revamped CL.

Extra slots will be given to clubs with the highest coefficients who didn't qualify in their leagues automatic CL positions.

Was on SSN last night, the Sky 6 won't sign up to the new government charter until these new Uefa rules have been set in stone.

So Newcastle will have to finish top 4 outright if they want CL football post 2024 ,as of now they haven't even got any coefficient points and the likes of the Sky 6 clubs would get those two slots based on the Uefa coefficient table right now.

That’s an outright lie that bottom banner by the way. Bruce tried his best and didn’t do badly at all under testing conditions and got absolute dog’s abuse for 2 years by your mouth breathing fanbase.
