Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

@Marius57 Had a look at recent years of the Newcastle financial reports and compared to ours they have nothing to worry about.

During the Covid seasons they posted losses of 26 and 14 million compared to us we lost over 100 million per season.

At this moment in time they have no issues to investigate.
I agree, at this moment they are ok.

However, for 21/22 they made a 70m loss. For 22/23, I don’t know how they won’t make similar if not worse. They haven’t sold anyone really, made some big signings including Gordon, and the sponsorship deals they are going to make, won’t be in place prior to June so won’t help them out which will be 2 big years of losses following on from a smaller loss.

But that’s just my thinking, and in a years time we will see how much they have or haven’t flaunted the system.

Remember when we qualified for the C/L and failed miserably. These will as well. Probably the poorest P/L in recent years with the barcodes, spurs and a few others scraping it over European places. Teams at mid table to the bottom are awful, the mid division are poor to half decent, then you’ve got City who’ll win the league as the arse as fell out of Arsenal.

Are you saying we are currently a serious football club?

It hurts I know. We love to lampoon the Geordies, but they're in far better shape than us. The 'finally' bit I refer to is that many do not want to admit it.

They're streets ahead of us.
Overtaken in what sense? More money and investment yes but they are just a year in since they where in the relegation zone, so a bit early to judge. Potentially yes they will be better than us.

It's not just about transfer fees .

Our wages to turnover ratio has been the highest in the premier league for years now.

Which is unbelievable considering how many players are out on loan and the absolute state of our disjointed squad. Going back to Man City haven't they been under investigation for something like 8 or 9 years ? There is now a league within a league, those who can spend what they like and those that can't spend at all.

Them players out on loan we will still be paying a high percentage of their wages.

Pretty sure we are still paying something like 80% of Deli's wages while he is on loan.

But under the Ashley years they never posted losses and even posted small profits.

They have a 3 year window now which will be helped by Champions League football which will increase commercial revenue.

They will engineer inflated commercial deals on the back of this.

We done the same thing or tried to with USM, but we know why that fell apart. But even that wasn't enough our owners / board just weren't imaginative enough and we never grew commercially. A full clear out of Chairman, board and commercial team was needed, but someone wouldn't let go and our owner was never reigned in the rest is history.

Our commercial team has been the absolute worst in the Prem for about 20 years now.
