We had consecutive European seasons for years and the best we got was a DVD lolOur management, is from the 1970's mate and its sadly not changing anytime soon.
Remember when we qualified for the C/L and failed miserably. These will as well. Probably the poorest P/L in recent years with the barcodes, spurs and a few others scraping it over European places. Teams at mid table to the bottom are awful, the mid division are poor to half decent, then you’ve got City who’ll win the league as the arse as fell out of Arsenal.
I don’t get why everyone thinks they will struggle. It’s not like when we qualified with Koeman and decided to not have a striker and play with 3 number 10s.I'll take a punt and say they'll struggle next year. Nothing disastrous but won't perform to this level.
And Howe has never managed in Europe, so him juggling that and domestically I think he'll come a cropper...and get sacked which they'll then go for your Conte's etc
How will they? They'll add another £150-200m of talent in the summer. They're much more likely to cement their place in the top 5 than to drop off. The resources they have available will guarantee success in the near future.I'll take a punt and say they'll struggle next year. Nothing disastrous but won't perform to this level.

They have a decent squad, especially the spine of the team. And key, they have 2 strikers who are excellent finishers and are rotating well.
They will strengthen CM and LB but otherwise they have decent depth now as well as players who can play various positions and still be impactful.

Yep, it'll be them v City for the league next season, and every season from now on until football implodes in on itself. Think Arsenal's chance was this year and they've blown it.
Well they've jumped over 10 places in a year and are still playing half the players they had last season. Their management, it seems, it excellent. They've poached the top talent spotted from Brighton, have a manager who can motivate their players, and obviously have the backing from the owners as much as they can get away with spending. Their plan seems to have worked to perfection, and just 3-4 quality players on top of what they already have will cement them up there imo. They wont. They're now in the FFP zone. Their wage to turnover is 90%. 1 season in the champions league won't allow them to go over board. Additionally every club will be selling to them for a premium.
And it's not about the spending, it's about the management of the team.
As for this "new force" the FFP rules make that very hard to do for them. Their commercial revenue is below ours, Leicesters and west ham. Once they leapfrog that...then you can see them toppling Spurs at the most.
Said before...they need consistent Champions League qualification to make progress

They have, however, been aided this season by all of Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool having massively off seasons, which surely won't happen next season, but I do see Newcastle as every bit as good as those teams even on a good day for them, so I guess it's the big 7 now, as opposed to the previous big 6, or whatever number it was.
To be fair, I have said that to a few of my geordie mates that they will turn on Howe in the next year if he doesn’t keep them competing and if they struggle in Europe and are faltering in the league, he will be gone.Which is what I was saying. Finishing 6-7th next season compared to 3rd this season is a drop.
This whole "they'll compete with City" narrative just isn't true, they're not allowed to spend the money that Chelsea and City did to get where they are.
Their closest club to claw near is Spurs. Spurs have had 7 campaigns in the champions league and a final. Their turnover is £440mill a year and the 9th highest in world football.
Newcastle's turnover is £180mill. Behind us, Leeds, Leicester, West Ham.
Even with increased revenue from 1 season in the champions league, shirt sponsorship, and a other avenues...they ain't getting and extra £200+mill a year overnight.
It'll take years as well as no hiccups. And my hunch is that they'll have one next season as their horse punchers ego's will see Howe as someone who "can't compete" at the level they want...and he'll be out
Until 2019 yes. But as it’s done over 3 year cycles now it doesn’t matter what they did 10 years ago.Newcastle’s books were in profit something like 9 out of the last 10 or 11 years. They have massive wriggle room weirdly thanks to Mike Ashley being tight
