Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

One big dip, and their whole plan takes a hit.

Shows how hard it really is to compete at the top with current FFP and other spening rules.

I know its not ONLY on spending, but last 5 years they have spend £500 mill NET on transfers alone.

If they miss out on CL this season, they may have to do a bit of balancing....and will limit them in the market.
If it remains hard you can expect some dodgy rule bending deals happening. Think they are trying not to get too much attention to begin with but if they can’t do it within FFP then other things will start happening. No chance the owners will accept 6th place for very long.

Yes without a doubt, I expected it to start to happen this month tbh.

I don’t expect these rules to be relaxed or changed any time soon, and its why the door is well an truly closed for clubs like us to join those at the top again. You will just see those big clubs change hands more often now....United, Chelsea, Arsenal will all be sold again, before the likes of us get a chance.

Even the big Italian / Spanish clubs will be re-sold many times....as they all have footholds already in USA and other Countries & Continents.

Shady? Nothing shady about the upcoming sponsorship by Aramco mate, none at all!

AC absolutely rinsing them with the Tonali situation as well.

They will have diplomats in the ear of government and an entire nation of lawyers to make any judical process seem a complete waste of time.

Just seen the Rory Mcilroy episode of stick to football, a 25 min chat on LIV and Saudi/Qatari investment and the words ethics, values, human rights or sportwashing not mentioned once with the end message being greed is good, and Rory is probably the most principled one in the sport.

Bit of a free hit for our boys against these lot this weekend. Little old Sunlun vs. the sportswashing Saudi state. I think our entire squad cost about a 10th of the price of Joelinton alone.

If I was a mag I'd be absolutely shitting it.
Newcastle city centre is like a war zone on derby day. Seen coked up Newcastle fans all fighting amongst themselves whilst families go about trying to do their shopping. Not exclusive to Newcastle but football can really bring out the worst in people at times.
That rivalry is particularly poisonous.

Aye. Touch wood, but shouldn't be too much trouble at the match itself this time to be fair. The mags have asked for 6k away tickets as it's FA Cup, but to get them they agreed to it being a "bubble trip". Which involves them having to get the coach to/ from SJP to get their ticket. These coaches are arriving at our place at 9 am apparently and are obviously completely dry. So in the ground, the away fans will be sober, and there's little chance of our own idiots getting close to them outside the ground etc..

Annoyingly, both sets of fans have previously successfully protested against bubble trips - which treat fans like animals. But the Mags wanted the tickets this time as they're all desperate to see a derby win (which lets be honest, is extremely likely) for the first time since 2011, so have undone all that good work. But hey ho.

A big problem is the idiots that don't go to the game itself ever, but crawl out for these matches as you say. But those wronguns would probably be causing trouble somewhere regardless. Also, there's normally far more trouble when it's at their place then at ours thankfully.

Yeah it’s places like Washington where it would kick off the most if I remember right. The fans from the small towns were the biggest idiots. That lad who punched the horse was from Cramlington or somewhere near there.

Glad to be away from all that now tbh.

Spot on Football as a competitive competition is over for the other sucker14 clubs.

Surely not, all geordies are happy go lucky party animals without a malicious bone in the fanbase according to the commentators every....single....Time...you see one of them on the tele.

Some of the images give the appearance of papering over the Sunderland decorations. Terrible move by Sunderland.
Terrible isn't the word mate. An absolute PR disaster. Our owner was well-liked, but has made plenty of mistakes before. But this is a whole new level of low to be honest. The Mags will be laughing at us in decades for this.

For the game, the club have actually moved Season Card holders out of their seats to accommodate six thousand Newcastle fans (who are being charged more then our fans would be). Part of that is this hospitality section. Which they are charging Mag fans £500 a pop to use... Then to sweeten the deal they are haivng a NUFC legend in there, giving them free beers and a NUFC live podcast. If that wasn't enough they've done this.

Now taking down our memrobelia I understand. Any club would do that as you don't want it damaged. But buying (?)/ loaning NUFC stuff to put up on the walls is a disaster. BUT to make matters even worse, they actually put up stuff that insulted our history and region. A "cheer up Peter Reid" poster (in reference to a derogatory chant they have about him), actually laughing at our most successful manager in recent times, and the crossing out Haway poster. It's a disgrace to our history and traditions.

Then to compound absolutely everything, our own club has blocked our fan groups from creating an massive full stadium anti-newcastle/ anti-sports washing display before the game (below)

I don't care which league we are in, or if we're terrible on the pitch. My club should be proud of it's history, traditions and location.

The owner is claiming he knew nowt about it, but our podcasts/ fan media had heard about this happening weeks ago, so I find it hard to believe he didn't. But if he didn't know, they how the hell did this happen. How did nobody think this was beyond stupid. It also doesn't even make any commcerial sense, you already had them buying tickets with or without the merch. They are hardly coming back in the future are they.

Heads will roll regarding this, whether it is the owner I await with interest.
