With matty, most likely breathing or gravity.
Weird this.
Absolutely taking the piss. But those fans man, all holding their scarfs given to them by their ownership, singing "3-0 to the Saudi boys". I can take the result, that's football, but watching that away end, I find the whole thing disgusting to be honest.
I'll never get over how easy it was to sports wash an entire fanbase mind. Fans throwing ever part of their morals because their football team wins a few games now (not even world domination, just one good season and a cup final). Absolutely shuddering to think about.
And the less said about our own ownerships role in sports washing the better. Absolutely disgusting how (I'm talking off the pitch) we've knelt before the mags for this one. Embarrassing from our club from start to finish.
Classless.
And aye, they picked the perfect fanbase for it.
Yeah unforgivable that. Should run them out of town.
Personally think you're being a bit weird about the seat allocation. 6000 is less than what could have been allowed under FA rules:You say the perfect fanbase, and I agree. A club with a fanbase who are arrogant enough to believe they deserve to be up there, and therefore desperate enough to accept anyone that can take them there. But I think the speed and sheer levels to which all of their match-going fans lapped it up (having witnessed the mags in all their sports washing glory today) means I'd be lying if I didn't now think sportswashing would capture our/ most of the fanbases too. Albeit maybe not as much as the Mags.
As for our owners, our club gave them 6k away tickets (we'd never given anyone more than 3k since we moved away fans up the top tier), who obviously have to be pitch side, This involved moving season ticket holders (including people I personally know who have had the same seat since the stadium opened). It's literally just come out that in exchange for us doing that, our owner asked to be given the entire gate receipts. About half a million quid, absolutely nowt. The kind of thing you do for a [Poor language removed] non-league side when they have their big day out. Add in the bar situation. I've never seen a club with their hair ruffled like it.
We're a club devoid of pride, it smacks of a club with financial problems, and quite frankly it's our owners fault completely.
Personally think you're being a bit weird about the seat allocation. 6000 is less than what could have been allowed under FA rules:
Sunderland urged to rethink Newcastle FA Cup ticket allocation
A councillor called the decision to allocate 6,000 tickets to Newcastle fans as 'short-sighted'.www.bbc.co.uk
It not a new thing either, many clubs have had to do it. I think the Geordies are horrific tits, but this is an odd angle imho.
Quick question. Did @orly chase you off here previously? Just curious, like. We used to have a Sunderland thread and several regular posters.
Appreciate this is a NUFC thread and I don't want to derail it honestly. So I won't be talking about it beyond this post. On the allocation, the thing is that in recent years we've played Leeds, Boro and Carlisle and they didn't allow them to have bigger allocations in the cup (they also requested the same as Newcastle, the full 15%) because of safety concerns and the fact they wouldn't allow them to have the pitch side because of "logistical issues".
So it's just really strange that for Newcastle and only Newcastle they've allowed it for.
The rumours are that as with those mother teams the police initially gave them 2.5k tickets, then it was our club alongside Newcastle who were going out of our way to find a way to have as many Newcastle fans in the stadium as possible, pushing back against the police advice. This involved a series of extra measures being put in place the police were happy about, but creating the necessary situation for them to have the highest allocation possible.
It's just so strange our club would be trying to get as many of their fans in, not just accepting the initial police decision as we have previously.
The strangeness of the whole situation is explained by one of our fans here on an interview with talksport
As for your second question. Nah I haven't ever been "chased off", I don't actually know who that is. I think I initially posted on here before an away game asking some logistical questions. Came back intermittently because I liked Everton and recently was interested in reading about the stadium and ownership situation. I appreciate I have posted basically only on this thread, because I know more about it, but I tend to read the more EFC stuff out of interest.
Weird this.
He's left the building...or has he?Fair enough mate, I guess if it is the exception it will stick in the craw with it being local rivals etc.
On the 'chased off' question I was being a bit tongue in cheek/making a joke for the benefit of forum regulars. Don't mind me!
