It does, but a manager competing for trophies with Roma and then Marseille isn't likely to end up here. The Schalke manager would be tough to persuade, but still tough.
roma and Marseille hardly win anything tho !

He would fit the bill nicely, tbf.

Impressive short managerial record including getting Schalke to RU spot this season, loads of experience working with youth teams (something emphasised by Brands as a must), and he has one year left on a two year contract.

Why aren't we looking for people of this obvious quality?
Definitely, but he won't leave Schalke after guiding them to the 2nd place. His playing style is similar to Silva's by the way. He's just using a different formation and prefers playing three at the back.

What are they doing not tying him down to a longer contract?

They only appointed him after managing a dozen games in Bundesliga 2. He came top of his class in the German coaching academy and is only 32 years old. Like you said earlier people would have been panicking if we'd have been linked after his 12 games in charge. I'd like to see Arteta come here, he's young, knows the club, wants to play football the right way and by all accounts was one of the best people to come through the coaching system in years. He'd be a gamble but not much more than Schalke took.

Of the English managers I'd go for Howe. He'd be more expansive than Dyche. We don't want Everton playing like Burnley do we?
Give him a chance anyway.
