There's clearly been a briefing from EFC to journo's about Simeone. I think there's three ways to look at it.

1) If it really is possible in summer we should move heaven and earth to make sure it does
2) It's a name to throw out there to soften the impending arrival of the corrupt Jabba until summer
3) Farhad is completely delusional.

In an ideal world what would we want from a top managerial candidate?

Experience of the Champions league.
Experience of the Premiership.
Won Silverware.
A win percentage over 50% (actually 53%).
Tactically astute.
Young and hungry.
Would not cost too much to acquire.
Has had no complete managerial failures in his career.
Knows how to beat the Red S***e.
Would be here for the long term.

Of all those considered there is an obvious choice who ticks all the boxes...... Marco Silva of course.

Jabba the Hutt and Sean Dyche have win percentages in the 30's and Thomas Tuchel's is in the 40's.
I know stats don't mean much but if you were making a list of what you would want from an ideal manager from who is available he stands out above the rest in my opinion.

He's spent a max 12months at his last 3 clubs.

Where's the figure for the kitty from mate?

The quite firm links for Simeone hint at a lot more stuff happening in the background than most are aware of. It's almost like we have financial muscle beyond what it looks like on paper....

Out of thin air mate. Like Simeone to Everton. I'd like to think Moshiri still has some fire in his engine, but I don't see it to the extent Simeone takes us on.

Outsider here: How about Bilic? A bit of hoofball, but loves width and fast transitions. Made Mikhail Antonio, who is surprisingly English, look like the best winger in the league behind Mahrez at times. If he can regain half of his ambition he would be a great manager again. And available for free. Just hope he won't destroy Niasse.

lol lol lol

Are you aware of what he did to Everton?

Allardyce is an ugly man, he was an ugly player and he coaches ugly teams. He is also not a very trustworthy individual. It would be a very sad day for me should we appoint him.

This is the thing.

Moshiri has had accusations of shady dealings levelled against him by the BBC in the last 48 hours.

That they appear to be ludicrous is beside the point because, in these circumstaves no sensible person is going to be seen getting into bed with a fellow with a reputation as tarnished as Sam’s is.

Would they :(

Great to see us finally showing ambition. Just like we did by providing a £100m warchest for summer 2016 the existence of which was accidentally leaked to the media. The 60 million bid for Koulibaly confirmed by Moshiri himself. The £66m bid for Costa accidentally leaked to the media. Now we're aiming for the top by targeting Simeone according to a Sky journalist.
After years of stagnation under BK we finally have an investor who can fulfil our dreams. When we ultimately appoint Sam Allardyce because our main target was unavailable at least we know we tried for the very best. That's the ambition that's putting the bedwetters who've doubted the extravagant claims of the new project all along firmly in their place.

It's all about opinion mate, and unfortunately, the game is all about money. Mancini came and won us the cup. He said he'd take that 35 years banner down at Old Toilet and he did. He won us the league. Red half of Manchester constantly remind us we'll never. Even as big and successful as them. Tbh. Most blues I know aren't bothered about them, they have their istry, we have the future to look forward to. Anything we win is a bonus to most City fans who were there before the money came.

I'm not a jealous guy(as Bryan Ferry once sang) but many people are unfortunately.

His first choice. He paid the money. He got his man. Good decision, demonstrates proactivity.
Easy to forget how vaunted Koeman was in these parts 12 months ago. Shame it all fell away so quickly.

It's no slight on Moshiri though.

Hello?

Twelve months ago we in the throes of his first autumn slump and many on here had already started seriously doubting his ability.

And it is almost twelve months to the day that he made his infamous statement about Lukaku’s career being a “failure” if he wasted it playing for Everton.

It was a meh appointment and it all started going south pretty quickly.
