Looking back even at Leicester his role was weird, often on the bench or at training. Football seems to be a very small world of cliques and, if rumours are to believed, EFC is full of them. I wonder how much of this is all due to not having a top level CEO in place as they would, as you mention, surely recommend a root-and-branch review of the entire business. We just seem to lack qualified people in pretty much all the top roles.



We only have conjecture but I think it's telling Walsh never talks publicly about the style of football we aspire to, what we're trying to do long term or even give an opinion. Smacks of jobs-for-the-boys again wrapped as a coup as he came from the champions. Would he get a job as D0F at any of the top 6 if he left us?

Moshiri if serious about this needs to trigger the conditions for the buying out of the old guard, my guess is that conditions have been set though which enable the old guard to delay this buyout in various ways.

Getting to be more about having a direction than who gets appointed; floundering about with no apparent direction is no way to run a football club.

Club are in a tough spot because of different circumstances but they created it, so they need to sort it.

Didn't they actually want a different player for example than kante, and only got him when the first choice chose elsewhere, and interestingly the player subsequently was a flop

I wouldn't say Idrissa was a flop mate, he hasn't been good recently but nobody has been this season

Worse still, they're probably waiting on some duff international manager coming to the end of their contract; the cheap and nasty 'solution'.

Gueye is not in the same league as kante mate. Kante is arguably the best midfielder if his type in world football, the other is at Everton with zero buds from anyone for him after his supposedly amazing last season.

In fairness to Gana his stats were up there with the best in Europe when playing in his correct position as a lone DM, but when Schneiderlin came along he was asked to move further up the field and get involved in more attacks, that for me was when his form dipped drastically. Let him do what he does best win the ball and give it to players who can play.

As far as I know he's never been a DOF before. Maybe a misjudgment on the part of the hierarchy what a DOF role actually entails?

By extension every DoF started off not being a DoF before at some point.

If a few sources, like the footy rich list and The Paradise Papers are to be believed, the money issue is not an issue.

Therefore there isn't so much of a need to be acting like a Simeone type appointment is out of the question, or even a rest of the season appointment that is not just an internal promotion.

But it depends on the board selling a project development model comparable with say, Tottenham over the last 5 years.
