Seeing as we have no idea when we will select a new manager, at least we might see what he's going to have to do first: if i were his line manager (like Elstone or Kenwright should be, which unfortunately doesnt seem to be the case, and hopefully it's not Walsh), heres what I would tell him to do:

Continuity
Don't break up the entire squad just cos you feel like it. There are good players in there, they just haven't had coaching and tactics to guide them.

Contracts
Sign up Lookman, Dowell, Kenny, DCL, Davies, Vlasic, Keane, Pickford to good long term contracts or promise them good ones if they keep improving. Oh yeah, Barkley too

Rooney
Give him a proper mentoring role and a performance based contract and properly motivate him to help us win a cup or something. If he really wants to make Everton great, get his ideas on how he would think we can do it and that does not include him playing all the time at no.10

Klassen, Sigurdsson and Barkley.
Sign up Ross and Gylfi

Let go of...
Martina (loan or sell), Williams, Klassen back to Ajax on loan or sell, Stek, Mirallas, Schneiderlin. If we can be ruthless with managers, then we should equally let go of Klassen, Schneiderlin even if they are recent signings.

Buy
a left back, or see what Garbutt is like.

Striker position
If we can't find a striker, if not an established Giroud, type that we were thinking of then I would just take the risk and put DCL, Lookman and Vlasic or Rooney up front - 2 out of those 4. It's a transition season anyway, so let's use it to see if we can make a young untested partnership click - you never know.

Settle on a playing style from youth to senior teams. We're not like Barca or Ajax, so why not high speed, counter attacking, solid defending, nice fizzy, passing? That suits us. And a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 please

Thank you

Welcome to Everton, Michael

While I have great time for Michael O'Neill particularly since he won two League Championships back to back with Rovers after a 16 year barren spell, and has performed wonders with the North, I think that he is not ready for the week to week pressure of the EPL.

I would like to see him cut his teeth in England with a Championship team, and I believe he could do well at that level.

At 48, it is time for him to manage a club team in a decent league and get some experience at that level.... maybe then he just might be ready to step up.

It will be interesting to see if any clubs look for him but otherwise he has a contract with NI until 2020 and he is very popular with players and fans - he may just decide to stay where he is.

Nothing in the papers tonight, thought there would be some news. This is all being kept a closely guarded secret. Or nothing has happened yet. Expected something tomorrow or day after, you know, before next match. I guess Unsy can still lead for the forseeable.

More than three times as many blues want Silva over Unsworth. Why? He's no pedigree whatsoever in a major league. Tuchel & Diego I can understand...

Neither had Jose

He won the Champions League, which is a hell of a substitute for lacking major league experience. It revealed he can play with the big boys, and win. Jose also won the Portugese League.

Silva has won merely the Portugese second division, and that's about it. Worlds apart from Jose at that stage in his career.

Yeah, I didn't say he didn't do any of that.

Jose had no top flight experience when he came to the prem, fact.

Wrong. He had top-flight experience with Porto. He had no major league experience (Prem, Spain, Italy, Germany and at a push France).

Even then what's your point? You're comparing Silva to Jose on the basis of both having no major league experience, when the clear counter-point to that is what Jose achieved with Porto and what Silva has achieved so far. Jose proved himself back then, hence why a newly-big club like Chelsea went for him.

Would a big club go for Silva now? Of course not.

...it's baffling.

I can only think many of those who voted for him simply like his hair or consider him a 'dish' or somesuch.

Or admire the way HULL went down and WATFORD spunked a 2-0 lead against us.
