I think he has done well in lesser leagues, very well in fact. He's also done ok, moderately successful in England. I like Unsworth, but he looks slightly overwhelmed.

Getting relegated and then with his next club blowing a 2-0 lead against us is moderately successful now?

Also, are we in the market for those doing well in lesser leagues now? I thought those days were over.

And Unsy has managed three senior games

Yes, and it's been a bumpy ride. If we're not gonna get Tuchel, Diego, Ancelotti or Mancini (who have real pedigree) then give Unsy time to prove himself. If he crashes, then we have an army of average candidates like Silva, Dyche, Allardyce etc who would jump ship to join us at any time.

I think thats a fair point all-round. HE got relegated but his record at Hull, in the 15 games or so he had was more befitting of a side in mid table, they were relegated on what went before them. This season, I think his success has been overplayed, I actually think it's ben his most underwhelming season. While there's little doubt the goalkeeper situation made a big difference, he managed that game badly.

I am not sure we are in from managers from better leagues? I think it's really hard to gauge where the club is at. I went for Tuchel as my preference, so someone proven in a top league. However the question of Silva V Unsworth is not a choice between a manager proven in the lesser league v one proven in this league. It is a question of two young, talented but unproven managers isn't it?

Agree with that, Rye. So if we can't get one of the high-end pedigree managers, then do we give Unsworth a chance or do we plump for an equally-unproven candidate, paying whatever compensation and again changing all manner of background staff to accommodate.

He won the Champions League, which is a hell of a substitute for lacking major league experience. It revealed he can play with the big boys, and win. Jose also won the Portugese League.

Silva has won merely the Portugese second division, and that's about it. Worlds apart from Jose at that stage in his career.
Thought he won Sporting Lisbon the Portuguese Cup ( their 1st trophy since 2008)

I’ve voted for Tuchel.

Silva - not good enough and has relegation form

Rhino - not enough experience for the job required

Allerdyce - ‘not straight’ as a five bob note

Dyche - Relegation form

Simeone - unachievable

Hiddink - no more Dutch thank you

Nice. That Roberto Martinez won an even bigger cup with a more unfancied team. Shall we get him in? Koeman also won the domestic cup at a bigger league, we could go for him?

Or how about we get someone who's got pedigree for top 4 in a major league?

No one available? Ok, let our own coach have a go then.

Is it just about what pots they've won or whether they fit our philosophy and have the experience?Silva or Tuchel most closely do for me. Dyche would be a average underwhelming but safe bet but he doesn't fit us stylistically or in terms of promoting youth. Every other realistic candidate isn't that palatable.

Silva's not yet done for Watford what Tuchel's done for Dortmund. And he is in a job. Do hope someone is flying from Speke to Dortmund, or wherever Tuchers is hanging.
