Lucien Favre. There's a name. 3rd last season with nice. Got borussia monchengladbach in champions league. Struggling a bit this season, possibly curse of Europa league but prior to this quite good with unfashionable teams. Brings through youth reus, ter stegen, kramer, xhaka at borussia.

Unfortunately I reckon the club burnt the bridges with Favre.... which is a great shame

“The opportunity to go to Nice has presented at the right time,” Favre told RTS Sport.

“I know I was on the short list of Everton.

“But I got tired of waiting.”

Thing is Eggs, I dont think the club is looking at it like that. When Walsh was brought in he done an interview about a long term vision which basically didn't mean what manager was in charge it was there for people to come in and match up against.

Has this even happened?

The club should be saying - we want X, Y and Z from the team and getting the manager that fits, be it passing football, attacking, pragmatic, plays youth, builds teams etc etc etc and drawing up a shortlist.

I dont think we have had anyone linked who follows the same train of thought - they dont all like to play passing footy, attacking etc... its a complete mishmash of managers and styles.

There is no clear direction what the club want... and thats the more worrying thing for me right now.

Because mate, that is what a director if football's job should be, to ensure recruitment of a coach who fits the clubs players and system/style of play.

We do t have one though on reality, we have a good scout with a title of it, which just causes massively more confusion.

Shambles. May as well keep Unsworth in and at least provide some stability. Unfair on him having to go game to game whilst name after namebis chased in full view of the media. How are the players supposed to respect him knowing at any point he’s off.

Exactly my point... we have someone who is a glorified scout - who has scouted only well known players for us hahahaha.

He spoke about doing that and instead worked on his tan in Italy.

I have been saying since the summer, Walsh's role needs looking into, and when Koeman went I said he should have been given the same treatment or at least have an investigation into what he is actually doing... he has a huge part of the blame.

Great post and spot on about big joe.

However it's sentiment clouding judgement exactly what most blues had before unsworth got going.

Royle is a legend and one of the best blues in history no doubt. This doesn't give him the capability in today's game to manage us.

He's yesterday's manager. He makes moyes and his techniques look cutting edge.

It would be a disaster going with royle. A romantic sentiment which makes no sense at all. Back to the 'he gets us' nonsense that makes us feel warm but ultimately never achieve anything of note.

Crazy.

What evidence do you have to support that mate, it often makes me laugh when fans make generilised judgments about whether a manager is past it or not, does the same not apply to us as fans about our judgement - you had a decent opinion and ability to post about football but your a bit past it now. I also didnt say Joe should be the manager he is already on the ticket with Unsworth. I would also say the approach and set up isn't very dissimilar to a Joe team.

Some in the game have alluded to his influence if you are canny and not dismissive enough.

Its not sentiment at all, i have always rated Royle and if you ever had the pleasure of listening to or speaking to Royle, he has forgotten more in five seconds about football then any of us will ever know.

Then you better come round to the idea of playing Championship football next season.

Nothing Unsworth has done would suggest he would relegate us. Taken over a shoddy squad with no confidence shorn of its best players and in 3 games two of which were away he’s got 4 points. It’s not amazing, he might not be suitable for a long term appointment, but he’s got some factors on his side: we’ve played away from home a lot, we’ve played a lot of the top teams already, he’s got up to 5 first team players to return from injury soon, we’re not even in the relegation zone at the moment.

Give the man a shred of credit. He’s picked up a team that looked as though it didn’t have a player of prem class in the defence or attack. He’s had a horrendous fixture list with 5 of his 7 games being away (Atlanta at home is a dead rubber though). He’s operating under what is clearly a shambolic board. We should be glad we’ve got someone like this we can call on in times like this.

That you, Unsy?
