I have a view of Everton that isn't based since the Premier League began.

The way I see it, you become a part of our club, you become part of the very fabric of football. Which as many Evertonians besides supporters, players, managers, will testify, becomes part of your blood. It's something that can't be measured in money or so called recent success. It's something deep rooted, something that eclipses the transient quicksand of new flavour or money.

We are the first, if you can't see that or fail to recognise it then you have no part to play at our club. Repeat a lie often enough some people will believe you. It's still a lie. Sky, the Echo, various pundits they'll repeat ad infinitum. I ignore them, I know my history. Nobody can match us.

What we need and I sincerely believe supporters are starting to demand, is that we live up to our motto. This isn't self-entitlement or delusion this something we, as Evertonians are ingrained, to expect. It's in our D.N.A. Should we expect Emery, Cocu, Mourinho, hell yes. They are the best and as supporters we should demand the custodians of the club deliver that. Whether it be players or managers.

And if you don't subscribe to that worldview however wildly optimistic it may be, somehow you don't get the club and what we stand for. I'll take that to my grave.

The way I see it is you don't deal in reality, and must have a massive moment with yourself.

Enjoy your wild optimism...built on things that don't exist in this day and age.

We have fallen behind where we want to be as a club...this is a 30+ year problem.

Take your pipe dreams to your grave, but do not ever try and question Goat or my passion for this club.

Said it before and I will say it again, the 90s scarred me, every single year it felt like getting volleyed in the balls week in week out, just surviving was considered an achievement.

But I still dream, every season.

Still hosing it and peeps pulling out the "I TOLD YOU UNITED WOULD GET MOURINHO" line.

Right on the pulse there, aren't you?

Mate when I grew up Everton was the greatest team in the world, we were the harlem globetrotters of football, winning titles was expected, getting to cup finals was a given, I dont need a history lesson, I was there in the 80s, I was there in 95 when we last won a trophy, I will be there next season, unless we appoint Moyes or Rafael, cos if that happens I will actually just stop following football.

Not quite sure the point of this post mate, I thought we had a chance of Jose, I think we have a chance of Emery, but im not stupid and nor should you be, we are currently an after thought, we are a team that hasnt won a single pot in 21 years, a team that finished 11th last season.

The media link us with utter clowns like Mark Hughes, David Moyes, Martin O'neil, they snigger when they mention our interest in Jose.

But the future is brighter, we are likely to move into a new stadium, we will spend some serious wedge on players and we will attract a very, very decent manager.

And if you know your history, we are about to write a new chapter.

in reality, we are a trophy less team who have finished 11th twice.

Everything you said above I agree with, it was the last point. To me that's irrelevant, we've finished 11th twice, So what, anybody who is paying attention will recognise where we stand in the long haul. We're a thoroughbred not some donkey that's happened to win a couple of races. Judge our club over a hundred years not just the last twenty odd years.

Which you obviously do know our history and recognise that, I apologise if I didn't make that clear. What I am categorically making clear is that if someone judges our club on our recent history, they are an eejit.

It's a snapshot, a moment to quote Martinez. I remember when United, Chelsea and City we're all in the second division. Change is the only constant.

We have history behind us, a long, long history. Few Evertonians are still alive that remember being in the second division. My point is this. You can't take a decade or a couple of years to judge a club, like Southampton, Leicester fans are doing now. I take the long view. If I was going to back someone to get back to the top, it wouldn't be those clubs, it'd be the clubs who have form.

And by the way, if you think it was bad in the 90's, the 70's were a nightmare mate.

.....all the indications are Mourinho will be announced as United manager very soon. From what has been said on these pages it also appears he was Moshiri's no1 target but never mind. Sometimes things happen for the best, appointing a manager contains risk regardless of the appointee.

I have no particular preference but I trust Moshiri has got his best people considering candidates.

We need to move forward now, none of this "we're waiting for another manager to choose between us and another".

Appoint the best manager available and let's get the preparation for next season rolling.
