Moyes turned down Villa because they're in the Championship. He might have become a proven PL manager with us but after United and Sociedad I don't think he can be arrogant about whom he picks on these shores. His reputation took a kicking.

From the things I've heard, the "project" should appeal to all but managers at the "Jose" level who are already at clubs or as is the case with Jose about to fulfil a life ambition.

Might be something that indeed does appeal to Mr Emery then, moved ahead of the others for me, De Boer too much of an unknown at the level i hope we are aiming for, Koeman a mixed bag of moderate success and big failiure, Pelligrini - good but maybe lost a bit of the fire to really go for it with a new team, Emery - succesful everywhere he has been - Moscow aside where he was frankly shafted big time, got the passion, desire and would be a absolutely 'statement' appointment IMO

I hear, albeit slightly tenuously (through Moshiri - Isle of Man business connections) that Koeman is the preferential candidate & the name being actively pursued.

His current employment being somewhat of a stumbling block.

As a caveat I am the worst ITK candidate ever but where this has come from does carry some legitimacy.

I'd be very happy with him also.

Agree with all of this.

I wasn't thinking about Emery, but, he certainly has something about him.

He's my first choice now.

does it come from this forum?

Got to say after thinking about it I'd hope the club make a serious attempt to get Emery. More proven than De Boer, fresher than Pellegrini and more successful than Koeman. Been a fan of his for years and very glad to see his name seemingly in the mix.

It's nice to be linked to good managers anyway. As opposed to Phil Neville and all the atrocious names we saw last time.

Just a hunch but think we had Koeman down as our second choice behind Mourinho and at the last minute (and maybe due to him not commiting one way or the other fast enough) we have slotted in Emery above him, going to be interesting to see how Emery does talkign to Moshiri really, IF he displays the passion he does for Sevilla then could be a marriage made in heaven

Possession at all costs wasn't what I was referring to. I was referring to the focus of the academy and having the club play with the same style throughout all the youth levels.

I guess we will have to see how Guardiola does with his possession at all costs philosophy and whether it works in the premiership.
Guardiola's teams press frenetically off the ball and move the final few balls in their moves quickly. They also emphasise movement off the ball.

Martinez and FDB both seem to lack these key ingredients.

Koeman and Emery will not leave their club, they want the bigger clubs and would like to the club where qualified champion league or at least europa league

I remember reading that Guardiola at Barca had some sort of a 5 second rule for lost possession, in that if the players lost the ball, he'd expect them to instantly press and win back possession within 5 seconds (or some other very short amount of time)

He had them train ruthlessly on it as well!
