IF Koeman is now out the running along with Mourinho also being out of it, and De Boer looking more and more the fall back option for us

Leaves us with only Pelligrini and Emery as serious candidates which have credible links to us having talks with them (discounting the crap linked that @The Esk has already thankfully head shotted)

Pelligrini - Experienced and calm level headed boss, respected but been around the block a lot and maybe lost the spark he once had, definitely not a risk and defintely will improve us to a decent degree, maybe not got the passion anymore for a true phoenix from the ahses rebuild job though, seems to not really get on the back of his players either - very much a wenger style manager

Emery - Great experience for someone so young, seems driven and demands the same from his players, ambitious but totally inexperienced in this country or abroad so has a huge risk element attached, could be a Mourinho type impact in this country or could turn into a Juande Ramos type, or more likely be someplace in between the two, higher risk but much higher reward if it works

Seems like Emery has now distanced himself from the job. I have this horrible creeping feeling that you know who will come riding in to Finch Farm in July on his white carthorse.

All together now (you know the tune):

"Back with Moyes, Back with Moyes Everton FC...." :(

you seem to be one of the few left who doesn't think Moyes is in with a shout. I will remember.

Or if you were his agent and talking to us on the sly about the possibility of a contract at Goodison, you'd want to see what his current employer was prepared to put on the table before committing either way.

It could be nothing more than the bloke doing his job, but the fact that he's passed that information onto the local BBC reporter is a bit of a worry imo.

Will be honest mate, i am not worried as i would rather we went for something better than Koeman

IF he is playing us and Saints off against each other for the best deal for himself then he can do one, i want a manager who wants this job not one who is constantly looking over the fence at the neighbours garden

Any genuine fear that we have that it could be Moyes is more about the trauma we've suffered due to Bill than based in actual probability/reality. (I tell this to myself several times a day.) I think this is what they call PTSD.

Southampton are another team that use a director of football. It's debatable how much say he has.

Put it this way. Their managers come and go but their recruitment is always good.
And he would have a director of football here if stories are to be believed.

Mate your basically appearing occasionally with comments about Moyes coming back when one of the most repsected posters and mods on here has stuck his reputation on that being a 0% chance, think you will find anyone who knows @The Esk thinks your 'source' is chatting absolute bubbles if they even exist that is.

Please do remember though, as i will remember to laugh my arse of at you for thinking Moyes ever had even a glimmer of a chance

I wouldn't get too worried about tweets about Koeman meeting with Southampton's board. Let's try to look at the facts as objectively as we can.

1) In many ways there is no chance that we can get Koeman. All logic states it is unrealistic. Despite being a historically bigger club this doesn't count for an awful lot. Southampton's budget is smaller but comparable to Everton and have a squad that again while similar in ability finished well above us. Most importantly why would Koeman throw away the good will he has there for starting at year zero at Everton (a question few are asking)? In that scenario we have no chance.

2) Esk who has been a reliable poster has informed us that we like him and he likes our proposal. This sounds very likely seeing how Moshiri has conducted himself thus far.

3) The difficulty for all of us at present is there is a big unknown which is "what has Moshiri promised him". We have had no managerial appointment yet, no transfer budget, no Contractual renewals. We are still guessing as to what he intends to do in the most part positively but still there is a gap between what we think will happen and what has happened. Had it been a year later and Everton had spent net £100 million + it would be easy to see why Koeman might come but at present it looks a bit unclear.

4) The media are a long way behind on this story as are other fans. There is a real ignorance. Had Moshiri bought Spurs or West Ham and started putting in changes as he has at Everton in a quiet efficient way there would be stories waxing lyrical about him. I don't necessarily mind us being in the dark and I don't think he does, in many ways it is very much the Everton way and it has it's advantages. However the ignorance of the media certainly contributes to how things are reported. I don't think much of the media have moved beyond point 1. If Koeman is speaking to Lss Reed it must only be for 1 thing in their minds.

5) The situation is fluid. I don't doubt Esk but situations can change. I am not for one minute saying Koeman couldn't be using us, or have changed his mind, or be going to meet Les Reed in an open frame of mind. Even if he had his heart set on us, Southampton will fight tooth and nail to keep him. Maybe they will guarantee him no player sales? A big budget himself to spend? We can't discount these possibilities. However I have little doubt Koeman is impressed with Everton and he has impressed Moshiri.

I'd be very wary of BBC journalists or journalists generally getting the whole story. They will all be getting information leaked from one side or another. There will be truth within it, (ie Koeman is meeting Southampton) but beyond that it will all be guesswork. They'll want to keep him but I don't think it's as cut and dried until he's signed a new Contract.

Koeman has always been my preferred choice (after Jose obviously) so I'll be disappointed if we can't convince him to join the Moshiri bandwagon at Goodison tbh.

Agents trying to leverage a few more quid from football clubs is just part of the game nowadays, it doesn't necessarily even relate to the actual wishes of their client, who might have already decided the course they want to take, it's just part of the pantomime to ensure they squeeze every last drop out of a contract.
