Mate, half of the players he signed are from the Dutch league. Their best signing (Van Dijk) last year was a Dutch centre half...

He very much deserves the credit. Sotton operate with a model on how they do business, but it is still the manager and their scouting department who pick them.

If you're not giving Koeman credit, then you really can't give Emery any either for his signings at Sevilla - as actually that is much more to do with the DoF...

Van dijk was down the road at Celtic. Not exactly deep diving. I never credited Emery with recruitment same as I don't think koemen had a major hand in it. Monchi recruitment with Emery tactical know how was the dream for me personally.

Like I said i wouldn't be upset but to me koemen is a stop gap. Emery/monchi would be coming to build something.

Even if it is Koeman - you have to ask yourself can we grow as a club and can he grow as a manager with us? The answer I think is yes to both.

We are gonna be massive - Koeman or Emery with Moshiri's backing are both capable of taking us to the next level.

Have i missed something?

I can't find any of the usual british journos reporting this, it all just seems to have come from one rogue tweet by a dutch bloke nobody had ever heard of. Is there are a reason why everyone's so convinced it's happening (other than bedwetter syndrome)? Also can't see any reports in the spanish media that the emery thing is off.

Can't imagine Koeman himself coming for talks without at least some british reporters getting wind of it, so seems unlikely to me. Not saying it won't happen, but can't see that things are quite as clear cut as some are making out.

Means you can't bet on Koeman going to Everton because they think it's a dead cert.

Still some modest betting about if anyone fancies it

STILL nothing from Joyce/Hunter/King, etc. McNulty is happily tweeting away about a documentary he watched last night.

nothing from any of the mainstream press, Mosh has played a blinder here keeping it completely under wraps. On Sunday morning Sky were indicating Steve Bruce may possible come to us, that's how desperate they were now they've just given up. OK by me:bye:

He seems an upgrade on Martinez I'll give you that.

Do you not think his experience dealing with a large turnover of players and snapping up bargains etc is a bit irrelevant given that we are supposed to be splashing the cash now?

I can't help it but I feel mighty disappointed.

Well, it looks like we could well lose two of our best players this window.

But, Emery's main thing is also the fact he has done so well on a limited budget having sold their best players (yes, better than Koeman has due to the EL wins).

There's really not much that to split between the two. And I imagine whichever one looks to stall first will be the one cut adrift. it's certainly a nice position to be in.

But it's not rationalizing a lack of winning?

What would you expect a brand new manager coming into the PL to achieve with Southampton in his first season, after they were shorn of their best four years. You wouldn't have expected a 7th place finish, no?

And then, the year after, again after losing their better players, a better points total and higher finish...

Everything is relative. I don't understand your point. And he has won things, as well... In fact I think he's won more than Emery has in his career...

Please point to me one managing accomplishment that Koeman has that is better than one Europa League? He has been a midtable manager and the only thing you can point to to say otherwise is his transfer history. Which is the exact same argument people used with Moyes. And Man United got duped by that simpleton thinking.
