Im actually amazed AZ hired him after Valencia.

Youre right about feyenoord. I class that as his best time with any club and most likely why southampton hired him.

If koeman was 10 years younger with an average playing career and we were hiring based on feyenoord and southampton hed be classed as average..

i think because he has a big name due to his playing career and people havent researched his managerial disasters they want him.

But to come to the PL and do the great job he's done with Southampton - following their mass overhaul of players each summer - is why he was first choice for the job Zat.

Two record points totals in consecutive seasons, two European qualifications. When was the last time we did that?

And all the while, he's done it while learning from his mistakes and also playing a style akin to the good things that RM set in place - as well as not being afraid to introduce youth into the first team ranks.

Does anyone think fans on the Internet deliberately go to one extreme or another so if their opinion becomes a fulfilled prophecy they can gloat?

It's a very weird phenomenon that I've noticed recently, if you speak to someone in the ale house they will go 'yeah I'll give him a chance' not instantly recall every success or failure in anyone's career.

I wonder if Wikipedia was down for a day whether these peoples post count would decrease?

Southampton Echo saying it's not even at advanced stages never mind done.

We'll see mate.

Local press know nothing - on either side tbh. There's a BBC reporter - Tony Husband - who was adamant up until 6pm last night that his best pal Koeman wasn't going anywhere.

I still think, knowing Everton, there may be one final twist, but I'm confident in the Esk's info at this stage.

I guess the reasons why Moshiri would like to hire Koeman as the new manager are as follows:-

1. Koeman had managed Soton for two seasons so he is familiar with the PL and will not take much time to adopt.

2. Koeman is the best we can get in the PL for the time being. You may say Pellegrini but many will case doubt.

3. His results with Soton for the last two seasons were 7th and 6th, under a minus budget. More or less the same with Moyes had done with Everton in the past. A good way to steady the ship in the first season of revolution.

4. We expect lots of ins and outs. Under similar cimcumstances, Soton did not regress under Koeman. With a bigger budget, Koeman might get the most of his signings and get results despite the like of Lukaku is gone.

So he has sprem experience, can get results on a budget and improved his team by one position at a time when us and chelsea imploded.

Plenty of foreign managers im sure we could get for £6mil+ a season.

Err... Koeman's dutch...

Zat, if we get him, it's a good appointment. Maybe a bit safe, but I'd rather that than FDB - who has huge question marks against him from people who know a lot more about the Dutch league than I do. Cocu, by the looks of it, has never been touted.

Valencias been unmanagable for a while and emery couldnt win away all season and theres no evidence to suggest he would succeed in the PL

Id just support koeman as hes managed to get soton to europe as a practically a seller club, so imagine what he could do with 100million +
