Koeman did in Southampton equal to Moyes did in Everton, limited transfer budget can reach top 6 in rank, Moyes even get lesser transfer budget than Koeman, if I need to choose 1 between 2, I would rather choose Moyes, at least he has 11 years track record in our club instead 2 years track record of Koeman in PL.

No thankyou Francis

Koeman by no means my preferred choice, I was in the Emery camp, but I welcome his imminent appointment and am looking forward to a sustained period of stability and improvement.

Things had descended into virtual chaos under Martinez.

He knows the Premiership, and I'm hoping he has learnt from mistakes in previous spells in mamagement, it appears that he has.

He does seem to be a straight talker and doesn't suffer fools which is exactly what we need.

Assume he will bring his fitness coach Jan Kluitenberg with him - he has a big job to do in the next few weeks - our last two pre season campaigns have been an utter disaster, and we saw the results.

Can't we just rally behind Koeman and his team when it's official? New manager, likely to have a DoF to support him, new coaching team, a sizeable budget for transfers, and a chance to reshape the squad significantly.

Surely it's a positive time for us? I'm looking forward to the new season and I think we'll surprise a few pundits.

no, we wouldn't have
I would say Koeman is not my 1st choice and concerns he doesnt stay around too long at a club...but neither does Mourinho.

So £60 to £75 mil for the usual 3 year contract for Pep who has never set foot in the Prem & Jose who's last job in this league was nothing short of disastrous.

There's no guarantee's here mate , with Koeman you get a solid base to push on.Getting us Europe in his 1st year would be the target.

From there on, who knows ? With proper backing it could be the very top.If this is the path Moshiri wants to take in his Grand Plan then it certainly gets my backing.

In holland he won the league with the favourites then nosedived. He also almost lost the league aftef imploding at PSV but AZ didnt beat the bottom side on the last day so he sneaked in then was gone soon after.

benfica they thought he was a weirdo and they finished 3rd in a 3 team league he won the damn portuguese supercup with them which is hardly amazing lol

valencia won copa del rey and was sacked before he relegated them. A team that was 3rd ths season before and back to 5th once emery took over. He also had players file cases against him.

AZ he was sacked after 3 months.

Couldnt get a job until feyenoord hired him and he stabalized them (his best time as a manager imo)

then takes over southampton.

its not just about looking at what hes won but what happened next.

He was at Ajax and PSV - and as expected in those instances won the league...

No, he didn't have good spells at either Benfica or Valencia, but still won trophies (more than we've done in 21 years).

AZ yes he struggled. But then yes he went to Feyenoord and sorted them out and then he's done fantastically well at Sotton.

FDB and Cocu - guess what Zat - they've only won 'the league in Holland with the favourites'.

I'm not claiming they aren't good managers. I have my doubts over FDB but Cocu is certainly one to watch.

However, as far as we know, Koeman was always Moshiri's no.1 target to stabilise the club and get us challenging for top six again (realistically where a club this size and with the quality of squad where we should be), and then build from there. Key to that will be a DoF, who will set in place the style/system that managers will then adhere to.

Oh god, make it stop

LOL, ffs why? Do you want the return of knife to a gun fight?

No changes from last night. Media are a bit behind currently.

Cheers, Esk.

yep, my thought on the media (at least Sotton based) anyway.

As you found out last night, that Tony Husband (BBC) knew very little of any deal, when just an hour later you were able to 'confirm' - as much to your knowledge, that it was done.

It maybe suggests to me that Southampton (and, thus their local media sources) have been very much in the dark up until late on?
