Yep. I imagine he got the same offer RK has got - and almost certainly would have taken it up if not for a move by another party yesterday. With the current stories breaking that appears to have been from PSG.

From what I can tell, media has been very behind on this - though I think things changed rather dramatically in the last 24 hours.

If the PSG thing with Emery is true, it would explain a lot.

I don't think the managerial situation at Everton holds much interest at all for the wider media. If there was a vacancy at one of the darling clubs they would be all over every rumour and claim.

Apart from the Dutch media, local journalists, and the normal copy and paste articles in the daily rags, I'm surprised at the low level of attention. But not bothered in the slightest.

From everything i've heard from Ajax fans and people who watch their games, he's Martinez mk II. Possession at all costs, slow build-up and no plan B. Doesn't work in this league.

Maybe he'll eventually prove me wrong in the premier league. But I'd rather us not be the experiment to find out.

It's all about opinions, my top three was Emery, Favre, De Boer. He may well end up at Southampton, that would be interesting!

Think Emery has been pretty straightforward in all of this, he set out his terms, we've made him an excellent offer, he decided to say no. No problem with any of that.
Koeman looks like he was offered £4m, negotiated a better deal with Southampton and turned us down. Then he hears what we're offering Emery and comes knocking on the door again. That doesn't leave me with a good impression of the guy. Personally after Emery knocked us back I'd have gone for De Boer.

also ajax and psv were not favourites under fdb or cocu.

He's learned his lessons - that much is obvious. Nobody at Southampton seems unhappy with him? His style much more likely suits the English game than Spanish as well.

Well come on mate, AJAX are always favourites, really. They have the biggest budget and best academy. Still, achieving what FDB did with them is no small feat, but I've read enough up on him and got information from enough dutch footy experts to believe he wouldn't be the best man for us right now.

Cocu looks to be a great up and coming manager, but by the looks of it hasn't signalled his intent to move and is happy to keep getting experience with PSV (especially given they are once again in the CL).

You need to walk before you run. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. We have many steps to climb.

Okay, maybe Koeman isn't the best, but given our recent league results, he's the best available.

He looks like a good fit to get us back where we were three seasons ago, and revamp our under performing squad, especially at the back.

I would hope that he does so well that after three years we wipe the floor with Barça, lifting the champions league to secure a famous quadruple.
