It really, really isn't mate

It's very possible, just everyone is so risk averse these days that no one has the confidence to try it

And why's that?

It's because in 1995, there wasn't a £5billion TV deal, and the huge bonus of getting in the CL (the prize wasn't as big), and the draw of the Prem to top-quality foreign players wasn't the same as it is now.

You can't tell me the game hasn't changed. It simply has.

I'm not against youth players, I'm all for it. And if they're good enough, Koeman (if indeed he signs) will give them a chance to prove it. But there's no rush to do so in the case of Dowell, Davies etc. Kenny seems most likely to fit in as our possible back-up right-back and I think he'll be given a lot of minutes in pre-season hopefully to prove that.

In the mean-time, the focus will be on getting Barkley fully fit and firing again, getting Del fit and back to his best and to get anywhere near his potential, and to hopefully tie Stones down to a deal and improve him further and probably get Besic to do so as well.

There seems to be this clamour to get a load of academy players involved, but we've got four first-team regulars above (not including Rom as he's almost certainly off), who all need to re-find their best form first.

Rashford would be nowhere near the United team. He was a winger in the academy that Van Gaal turned to in a time of injury. Now he's in the England squad. So I agree with this, you'll never know if kids are ready unless you give them a sustained opportunity not just 5 minute cameos or playing in a B team getting tonked in a cup. A manager has to be brave enough to give consistent starts and minutes in the premier league to young players. Nothing I hate more than seeing senior pros shifted out of position to cover injuries and doing a horrific job of it when you've got young players who train every day in that position sat on the bench.

Excellent point

A good example would be Martinez playing Besic at RB instead of Pennington who was actually a defender

Martinez completely lost control of the ship in the last few months, but lets not forget that we have some fantastic players here. We aren't as far off as people would have you think.

A manager that can coach a defence will get you more points on the board. A manager that values and works on set pieces will get you more points on the board. A manager that will drill his team into seeing out tight games will get you more points on the board. A manager that knows how to build strong form at home will get you more points on the board.

I understand peoples reservations, but he ticks all the boxes for me and i'm quite confident that we can hit the ground running.

Do you agree that he can guide us to our first Premier League title?
