Btw Koeman seemed to integrate far fewer academy players into your squad than Pochettino - was that down to a decreasing quality in your U21/U18 lads or does he just not favour youngsters as much?

I think Koeman does favour youth at least he did at Feyenoord.

He signed Classie, Van dijk and Romeu who were young players. He also had Lallana, Clyne, Chambers & Shaw sold on (their best prospects). Targett has been used.

I don't think he's a De Boer or Cocu but do think he will look to integrate more than Emery would have done. I hope so anyway!

Well for 1 you have oversold Moshiri, this is a man that supported Wenger at Arsenal, a glorified accountant and I mean Wenger, not Moshiri.

Hes a very good businessman, but to say his decision making with regards football is flawless is very wrong.

You then say Koeman has done well at every club, hes stank the place out at 5 of the 9 clubs hes managed, hardly a glowing reference.

You then say worst case you see us in 6th? A team thats finished 11th for 2 seasons being managed by a failure of a manger? Be lucky to finish 19th IMO and Newcastle spent a vast sum of money and still went down.

Anyway, just a few points I extracted.

Koeman has to earn the right to manage Barca. So far he hasn't done that. Or I'm I missing something?

Your not missing anything, he's not there yet, but another good year at the saints and you could say he would of been in the running for Holland and possibly Arsenal, if he signs a 4/5 year deal for you, he would need a good 2/3 years with you to still be in the running for a top end job.

Not saying he won't have a good 2/3/4 years with you, but it makes it arguably a harder step up to the next level.

It was much much easier to introduce Shaw, Chambers, Lallana, Bale, Ox ect, when we were in the lower leagues and could give them playing time. Past three years, we have been in the top 8, so opportunities have been harder to come by for the youngsters, but targett and JWP have both featured a good amount this season. So I wouldn't blame the lack of youth on Koeman.

Secondly, the current youth intake were recruited when we were in administration in League 1, so the quality is a bit lower, than it was, but I expect it to pick up in the coming years as the club managed to get out of that mess. I'm excited to see the last few years youth intake, when they make it to the first team! The next big thing from the Saints academy is a lad called Callum Slattery.

Cheers, we've got a good academy here with some promising lads that I'd like to see given some gametime and will keep an eye out for Callum!
