He also won the Champions League with Porto which is a hugely significant achievement. You mean like Mourinho did before he got the Chelsea job?
Personally I'd like to see us try and get De Boer. He's young and already experienced managing in the champs league and was the Dutch assistant in the 2010 Worl Cup. He took over a declining Ajax side that hadn't won a title in 6/7 years and won 4 Eredivise titles on the bounce in his first 4 seasons. This first time that's ever been done in the Dutch league and the first time Ajax have won 4 successive titles.
His Ajax side are one of the most exciting young sides in Europe, the majority of which are players he's brought through after working with them at youth level.
Bergkamp & his brother are his assistants as well, bit of a step up from Jones & Lawrence, you'd imagine if we have any chance of keeping the likes of Stones, Lukaku, Delefaou and Barkley then these are the calibre of coaches they'd want to be working with and learning from.

I'm not saying De Boer isn't a good manager, I just think I'd go for someone more experienced and proven.
Not in a top league which is one of the criteria I'd be looking at.That's fair enough, I'd say De Boer's fairly proven. More so than are current manager and the one before him anyway.
the bad Teds on here love a manager who can mostly keep a clean sheet and be boring as feck. You's can have LvG. Cracking manager. Honestly, I'll drive him from Old Trafford myself.
Can we add Unai Emery to the voting list?Never happen I'd imagine, but the tiniest hope can make you feel better on a bad day
both out of work i think at the momentMarcelo Bielsa, genius, best manager.
Ya read someplace that benfica let his contract run down because they were arrogant and were just assuming he would sign a new contract so probably was a case of him wanting more money and they werent willing to spend it.I'm currently working offshore with a Portugese guy, massive Benfica fan, I just asked him about him. This is what he said :
"Jorge Jesus.... What a f*****g w****r. He left us last season for Sporting for more money. Was with us for about 6 seasons. Great manager though, very similar to Mourinho. Very arrogant. Can only speak Portugese though, and can barely even speak that as he has a very strange accent"

I think should Martinez leave we will have plenty of high quality applicants because of the young players we have as well as the new tv money which guarantees the new manager money to spend.
We've gone down the unproven route and as of yet that hasn't been successful (although I hope it is and we see a turnaround) so I'd be going for someone experienced.
Agreed, I see no point in bringing in a man midseason, that brings needless upheaval to the club. Better off taking our time and getting the right man in than screwing it up in the search for short term results this season. The thing is, it's when Martinez goes here.
I've got no issue with people wanting him out, as they're not realistic in their expectations of who we can get at this point in the season.
If he is to go, it has to be the summer, so we can get the right man in and he can have a full pre-season with the squad. That man for me would be Quique Flores.
But I don't particularly want RM out.
