TBF, United did the exact same thing that year Fergie said he was off at the end of it.
But there is a difference there. United was a team that their best manager was told 'I am leaving at the end of the year' so it rally'd them. Whereas Pellegrini is/was replaced. Hell, with a team like City being almost completely mercenaries, I think that could explain it. They have no loyalty to the badge, the fans or the city itself.
I am not on the Pellegrini bandwagon at all, but I think a lot of what you are seeing with him and City this season are down to Pellegrini being a dead man walking. Hard to have loads of motivation when you know you've already been replaced.
copy-cat

I get that, absolutely.
On the flip side though, would he lay the foundations for the defence? Make us more solid?

Bale wasnt exactly shackled as a result of his tactics either, I think that was his pre-Madrid season IIRC.

Make no mistake though, your mates are in a far better place than I to judge him. I mean that sincerely

I don't think he finished 4th and was sacked at both clubs

Pellegrini has managed some of the best football in prem history. His side in 13/14 were brilliant and cruelly forgotten because of the media love in with Liverpool. Some of their attacking play was exceptional. He's also got decent records in Europe with Villareal Malaga and this season potentially City. There's question marks over his transfer dealings but he is a completely different league to Martinez.

And I'm sure we all appreciate some things Martinez has done such as the attacking play we have shown at times, not as much as the media like portray though. He would certainly continue that and bring more stability to our play. I think so anyway.

I've always like pellegrini ever since he came here with villareal. There's no doubt that he's underperformed at city; however, it'd be interesting to know how much of the transfers were his.

I've heard a lot that txiki bergiristain oversees that majority of transfers for city.

Pellegrini has been pretty poor at City considering his resources available.

I don't agree with that. This season has been poor but there's obvious reasons for that. Plus there's other teams with relatively equal resources competing in this league. Its highly unlikely but he may win the champs league. If so then a league title, 2 league cups and a champs league would be a pretty impressive haul.
