Next week is the new this week which was always set in stone to be the imminent news pending until the stone wasn't so set and the imminently imminent wasn't as imminent as we all hoped for.

What I'm trying to say is the sooner out of the sooner or later is a little bit later but sooner or later one or the other will be correct and it just depends if you class it as sooner than you thought or much later than you anticipated.

I don't see why they would set such store in making the announcement of a new manager and DOF simultaneously.

I see no great advantage to waiting to annoint Ronald this long if the deal for the new manager is already signed.

In fact, I think it would have been far better to have announced the new managerial appointment this week and the DOF next week......to keep the good news items rolling on and the spotlight being shone positively on the club over two or more weeks.

Which leads me to worry a bit that the Koeman deal is not as set in stone as we are being led to believe it is.....not by the club it must be said because they are outdoing La Cosa Nostra when it comes or omertà.

But by the press.

In short......if this Ronald Koeman thingy goes tits up, I for one will not be surprised :(

I do have sympathy for this view based on, well, previous form, as far as Everton are concerned.

But I'm reigning in my instincts and trusting the new regime.

There would have been ample opportunity for Koeman himself to come out and say either there was a problem, it was never on etc. especially considering what seems to be a small universe of people being privvy to his next career move over the last week or so.

Southampton would only be too happy to publically and emphatically declare a problem too, given they didn't even seen us coming up on the horizon last week, and look embarrassed in front of their own.

If this collapsed, we would hardly ever live it down. It would be a near fatal blow at birth to the Moshiri revolution. Imagine the Southampton fans, let alone our beloved neighbours, and the likes of West Ham.

It feels like I'm defence counsel trying to convince a jury here :)

You convinced me.

the Carousel of Everton can do strange things to a persons mind that's for sure.
...we lend Zebedee-like motion master to the centripetality of Everton's magic roundabout...hence, whilst things might appear to fall apart, our centre, our existential core, most definitely holds.

Everton of old under Kenwright I would be terrified. However we have released very little to the press and been very cautious, so the fact we've let it be known it's agreed then I can't see it not being done. I imagine Koeman returned mid holiday to sign up and has understandably said he wants to finish his holiday which reasonably we have allowed him.

Lets put it this way, he can't go back to Southampton now can he? There's very little motive in him not signing with us having burnt his bridges there. I have never been so relaxed supporting Everton and I think the delay is actually a sign of supreme confidence they have. They are happy to give him a few extra days as they know we will be his best option.

As for the DOF well there is no reason why they have to be announced together. However what I am getting from the new Everton is a real return to the old days of Moores where we sprung announcements on people. I think Moshiri wants to send a bit of a message to the media, the players, the fans and the rest of the league. Having a DOF like Monchi and Koeman unveiled together would send shockwaves. Even with the Euro's on it would be massive news.
