The old Everton under John Moores were very secretive but a couple of supposedly nailed on managerial appointments, Don Revie in 1973 and Bobby Robson in 1977 both failed to materialise!

I hate to say it SO EFFING early but this is not great. I read this week about Koeman taking on his manager in Dudeks book, and other stories. Thie downside of this guys confidence is his arrogance. Everton is not just another club. He needs to be able to get the club and make the fans feel great, Moyes was very good at this, Rafael xcellent. He's got a twenty million pound contract and he's kept us waitng ten King days to sign it. So what if he'd booked his hols, would you continue your hols in such a situation?
Can you imagine Mourinho keeping United waiting by going on holiday, or well, anyone?
It smacks of arrogance, and it's the sort of big time Charlie behaviour that you might be able to get away with at Soton but entirely not here.

You hate to say it so early, but did anyway?

thing is though, isn't arrogance a good trait in a manager sometimes? Martinez was nice and went nowhere, Moyes was timid and got nowhere, Perhaps someone like Koeman who is a legend of the dutch and barcelona eith a arrogance is a bit different and can envoke the same reaction on the pitch?

And sadly Everton are just another club to any decent manager. Unless you want to hire eddie howe or Peter reid then pretty much no manager has any real love with us when they arrive. Certainly Jose would have seen us as a paycheck job and would have jumped at united in 12 months time. Until we increase our modern game standings then this will always be the case. BUT, the fact we can poach the likes of koeman and was talking to Emery means that upstairs we have people who know what they are doing now. No more meek Everton, we are ambitious and if we can turn it on the pitch as well then we will certainly have a much better reputation down the line than we do now.

I don't know why anyone's bothered, he has a few weeks of holiday that he has to take at the same time every year, he had one planned and Everton hadn't finished negotiating with Southampton. He left his agent to finish negotiations once we had agreed a deal with Southampton. Now the deal is ready and he'll come back, sign it, and get straight to work.

OR.... His holidays were booked months ago like everyone else's... We decided we wanted to announce manager and DoF at the same time, the players are all off on their holidays or at the Euros, so we told him to go ahead, have his week away and come back Monday ready to get to work.

Hmmmmm.

Do you not think that our money man thought it was ok for him to go away again (which had probably been planned for months) so we don't really need to worry?
It's not about the worry, it just smacks of arrogance. I would have interrupted my hol for a day to come back and sign
